Nursing homes are phase 1, not phase 2.
For nurses and health care workers, who may or may not be the primary transmitters. It could be air quality or something else....or one rogue person without the vaccine could bring it in. A food delivery person, someone delivering linens, or ppe supplies....
Anyway, I'm just worried, it will be like the residents all took a placebo as they live among the possibly protected health care workers that may still transmit the virus as the above article I posted said, wouldn't it?

Residents of continuing care are in phase one. I'm not sure why being vaccinated is like a placebo.
If the vaccine doesn't stop transmission, it is likely still reduced, less virus produced in the body = less virus particles to put out into the environment. I don't think we should just be dropping masking in continuing care anytime soon though.

Dr. Tam said they wouldn't be given it first.

Right, I didn't say they would either. They are still in phase 1 though, Jan - March. LTC workers aren't getting it first either.

This is US news... The headline is only a broad paraphrase. But it certainly is expressive and caught my attention. LOL

Pfizer and Moderna RSVP Hell f*** No to Trump’s “Vaccine Summit”

(I copied and pasted but couldn't unbold the headline above. I highlighted it and tried to, but it didn't work.)

Let’s just remind ourselves they are talking about only 125,000 people getting first vaccinations. Hardly anyone. And doing that in apparently 20 sites.

they dropped the ball, the out their money in a deal with China that fell through. Now they are bringing in enough vaccines for no one

again, the Globe and CBC running articles about the vaccine production business that is in Montreal, that makes the Ebola vaccine that they ignored. Because they wanted to put money into building and facility right next door

Tam says it is optimistic to think six months for most vaccinatons

and Bloch has pointed out the doses due to arrive next week aren’t even enough to vaccinate all the senors in Sherbrooke quebec

the incompetence is astonishing

Is incompetence part and parcel of particular naivete?

Does particulate ignorance come in waves and claim intelligence is just dirt?

Thus the descending urge about knowing and knowledge and stupidity expands ... because we believe different ...

Allergies are just repulsive to those wishing to distribute this stuff to all ... without concern for the few!

I'm cautiously optimistic about this vaccine. I was concerned about the speed at which it was developed then learned the research for this type of vaccine has been happening for some time.

We learned yesterday that this might not prevent a vaccinated person from infecting someone else. Does anyone know more about that?

Up thread I posted something about them not being sure about transmission to others even after the vaccine.

125,000 people getting vacinated

450,000 nurses in Canada. Likely as many PSWs No idea how many docs

population 33,000,000

It is now advised that those who have allergies should not get the Covid vaccine due to two reactions in the UK from 2 recipients.

Good to see they're reporting this asap so we know. It sounds like they might have had serious reactions but it doesn't really say what they were.
Specifically anaphylactic allergies it's not a recommendation for people with something like hayfever. They are good about treating anaphylaxis though it's why they get people to wait after a vaccine in general and they are watching for signs of it.

Did it say it was anaphylaxis somewhere and I missed it?

They said severe allergies and those who carry epinephrine. They didn't specify the reactions themselves but I think it's likely it involved something resembling anaphylaxis which has many different signs and symptoms and a range of severity. They also excluded those who experienced it before when doing trials.
