Canadian election and other political stuff

I saw Trudeau's statement on television. Definitely not sunshiny. But, he stumbled over a few words. And his grin looked pasted on. I actually felt a little sorry for him. I've always thought that he needed better advisers...ones with connections to the unprivileged life. My political leanings are Liberal, although I've voted all over the map. However, I could not vote Liberal if things stay as they are. And I don't see a lot of up and coming bright lights.

Do the greatest authorities listen to lower advisement? Just mull that over a moment or 2 to see if it carries some inertia ...

It hasn't been common in my experience ... they believe they stand alone ISO or anonymous ...

A year or so ago, I thought he seemed to acting like a prime minister instead of being a prime minister. I wonder if his drama background is an additional handicap. PP serms also to be mostly acting.

Politicians acting is hardly new, but it certainly seems to be getting worse. Trump is acting half the time and I still wonder how much of his more extreme behaviour and policies are for show. I suppose we could look back and blame Reagan but he actually came off less like an actor than modern pols. Or maybe he was good enough to not seem like he was acting.

Sen. Denise Batters

The best public address from PM Trudeau right now would be this:

"I have visited the Governor General. Canada's general election will be held on ______ "
I agree.

A petition (e-5289) has been launched urging all MP’s to urgently demand that the Prime Minister advise the Governor General to dissolve Parliament and call an immediate general election.

The only petition he is likely to listen to is a non-confidence vote of the house. An online petition like that can easily be dismissed as biased since you know Poilievre supporters are going to flock to it.
Not before April.
How so? The House ends the Christmas recess on January 27. If Singh or Poilievre can drop a confidence motion onto the agenda that week, the election could be held in early March given the minimum length of a campaign is 36 days. Of course, Trudeau might go for a longer campaign to give Poilievre more time to hang himself. Still, I would expect the election to happen in March or quite early in April assuming a confidence motion goes ahead after the recess. And if Trudeau drops the writ during the recess? Then even February is possible. But I don't see that happening.

Option A for Trudeau. Persist in doing what he is doing--opposition will probably call a non-confidence motion when Parliament convenes and we will have an election, probably with the maximum time to voting day.

Option B. Prorogue Parliament like Harper, prepare a throne speech with enough good new proposals to tempt enough voters to prevent a Conservative majority.

Option C. Prorogue parliament, resign, and have a quick leadership campaign.

Why would he possibly not choose Option B?

Not to worry about anything ...

I see some news while virtual or not suggests that Trump wishes to buy Greenland, Panama and Canada as the US is approaching brownout!

It is exhausting the options ...

Option B is the smart option, really. Then C, but that would require him to put the party ahead of his ego. A is basically political suicide.
Is Trudeau adept enough at reading the room to choose anything besides A with B as a second choice? I am not so sure anymore -- or does he hopefully have people close to him who he trusts that will tell him what he needs to hear?

I don't believe he's capable of reading the room. I also don't believe people close to him will tell him what he needs to hear. That being said, at some point it will be difficult to ignore all the MP's speaking out.

Yep. Saw that in the news yesterday. I was fully expecting them to find a maneuver that would get the motion to the floor quickly. This does it.

Just dragging a line through the waters ... but will this save ordinary Canadians much expense? I observe that the thing is unlikely and thus more indeterminate than what is expected of CEO's, governors and BS Leaders ... Systemic Theo logos ... that's the word ...

Few read it in depth ... as emotionally distraught by pas Zion ... they can't see the consequences!

What's Zion? odd stuff that's beyond us ... hidden, obscure, sacred and Gnostic ... resisting dia gnosis ... "don't look ALi ce!"

Some declare it is best we don't know just yet ...

Tell me about stupid, ignorant and unknown again as a non existent con juration ... journal that for historical reason!

Alas few will read ... for something that is best! Abstract voids that are larger than most comprehensive departures ... from whatever! AH gap HEH ...

Can this be named, or remain nominal n' ominous?

Then the weird thing of worried songs ... from who? Is there just an item as a worried personality? Not if they think they have enough wealth to eliminate all labor ... then chit will fly like prairies Oye stir ... fla' tout ...

What happens if parliament is prorogued?
Then it all crashes to a halt, including the committee. Including all legislation that has not received Royal Assent. Committees can't meet until a new session opens. No legislation or things requiring legislation, like budget items, can be introduced or be implemented . So if they do it now, the Liberals buy time but put a full stop on their agenda, including anything coming from the economic statement. And the opposition can still restart the confidence motion once the new session opens.

However, it is possible that the Libs could delude themselves into thinking that buying time is what they need.
