Anti-2SLGBTQAA+ Protest today

So the thing is

How do we protect LGBTetc
and avoid defenestrating and Othering and being Racist/Bigoted towards those with valid concerns?

Mendalla brought up something pertinent, that because of the cirriculum, it is problematic to have choice? That is what happens and a...cost? Trade off? of these particular issues

(also remember I believe Gender Identity is a protected class now and Gender Identity has no limits...it literally is infinite..and since it seems social norms are changing that way as well...problematics abound! be glad we aren't -- yet -- like Britain, where one can get questioned by police for wrong thoughts...)

And of course Pierre is with the "extremists"
(tho truly ninj, did Mendalla write that?)

rememebr everyone in Parliament gave a standing O to an actual Nazi

they are ALL extremists

now what are you going to do with that info?

i know what i am going to do

GLITTER!

i am also going to a local protest to see if i can get some actual answers from a real human being

to the FAGMOBILE!!!

I think that the fear underlying this one is that there is a subset of humanity who think that they "own" their children.
that unfortunately seems to be a popular meme
nuance goes out the window
so Abortion Rights becomes only Anti-Abortion OR Pro Choice

so Gun Regulation becomes either NO RULES or NO GUNS

and so forth

when dialogue becomes like this, it is frustrating?

i think that some parent's concerns are legitimate

all feelings are valid

pain is pain
suffering is suffering

ignorance is ignorance

i am glad for those who can actually communicate through all this polarized thinking

taking the time...

be kind
rewind :3

i find enough parents are Guardians of their kids

public schools in the USA only recently became child care places...

with all that entails

as again, how to deal with actual harmful people and distinguish between them and legitimate concerns?

Also,

those here who are concerned aboot Trans disappearing

You do realize that Trans can literally be anything?

The major usage is "If you self identify as Trans, you are Trans"

So Trans disappearing is problematic that way, because depending on the usage...

So that is why there can be mixups...because when you get rid of gatekeepers and such...this chaos is what naturally happens...

I hope this helps :)

I did not. I said I wasn't sure he had the balls to stand up to them if they press for some "reward" for delivering a majority.
Earlier upthread @Mendalla mentioned Pierre Poilievre as catering to the extremists. His stepfather is gay. Do you think that affects his stance?
As I suggested, I think gay rights are relatively safe in any case. There's enough popular support there that going hard on that front could hurt the party that does it. My concern is more for trans people. Not even all gay people are supporting trans rights at the moment, sad as that may sound, so going after them may be seen as a "quick win" to keep the so-cons onside.

I wondered what teaching materials are used. Is there any chance the info is given to allow a vocabulary for molestation? They need that because as hideous as it sounds, that age group is targeted because they can't express what's happening. I know it's a dilemma, but I believe I would prefer that to leaving them "innocent" and thereby vulnerable. Thoughts?

This is an excellent point. Nurse educator Meg Hickling always advocated for age appropriate sex education for children starting from an early age. That would mean teaching the proper names for body parts, and creating an environment where the child feels safe to disclose if anyone has touched them inappropriately or worse. Her perspective was that children are more vulnerable when they can't talk about "private parts" or "private" "adult" things. Of course ideally this education is done in the home. At the same time, teachers can create a safe space for children and can use age appropriate language and help children learn. Often teachers are the first people that children disclose abuse. It is absolutely possible to do this without sexualizing the child. Arguably it prevents sexualizing and strengthens the child.

Do Greatest Leaders have any sense of mia culpa for private parts and sectors? Consider the X POTUS intervention in the courts with intent that he is totally irresponsible! It wasn't his thought in the first place ... he was totally against thought ... but perhaps having 2nd thoughts?

If a CEO ... is one ultimately responsible for the entire field? Such Wahls are unavoidable in the urge to control without a tad of the backlash ... a very ugly spirit indeed!

Right, it was Ninj who wrote that. As I suspected :3 She put words in your fingers

I grok

Again, due to the issues with the whole new way to interpret LGBTQ identity, "supporting or not supporting trans rights" is very variable? Since Trans = what one identifies as...
(i so dislike the circular firing squad and the endless purity tests...)

Wheras before, with the Gatekeepers and more Medicalized defs...it was much easier to keep track of?

So again, I think we have LGBTetc (who still use Epistemological Truth), we have Woke LGBTetc (who see Power relations as more important than Truth Claims -- Truth is Problematic and part of the Systems of Oppression and thus needs to be dismantled) who use the "What one identifies as", and the both of them have overlap and a problem that can affect one can affect the other?

Chaos all around

Oh and TY!!!

I get a reply from you! woo hoo! *DANCES*!!!

and @ninj, it IS ok to like my posts. you won't get cancelled

remember our times together...you jumping up on me, then you realizing you were a cat :3

life is good

This concept of Sexualizing the Child

Is that a concept that is shared amongst a large group of people?

In that is it an Objective thing or more subjective (eg. in Victorian times, if @ninj showed too much ankle, she could get socially cancelled...wheras in mainstream Canada today...much different)

Please help me understand this bit

I've met children who have been sexualized. One apparently had been photographed for child porn. Children who have been sexually abused are often sexualized. Just imagine a child who acts "sexy" (it's not a good thing)

Only as you are set and fixated on skewering ... which happens when desires to over run the alternate become a fete-sh! Grows feet ... and moves on ...

I observed some funny orgies while passing through adolescence ... really cranked folks ... excited by minor hormones, etc. Then they went the other way ....

Best to remain a medium ... and hated by both sides ... can drive ole Dix Seas down ... dry periods? Abstracts befuddle the core ... heartlands!

To be clear, the sexualized children I met had been sexually abused. It was not merely "political". I met them through my work

But there's another, overt, venue for sexualizing children, particularly girls. That is the whole beauty pageant platform (which starts horrifyingly young in some cases).

In my perfect world, there would be no beauty pageants under maybe 16 or even 18 and modelling for under 18s would be regulated and limited to clothing catalogues and teen-oriented magazines.

What kind of dance? I think every child should be encouraged to dance! It's one gift my mother gave me - music and an encouragement to express myself through the motion of my body.

I have been a very sexual being all of my life. Not abused, but aware of my sexuality and what it meant to me as a person, relatively early, quite naturally. I connect musicality, sexuality and joy, and have done all my life. My late teenage years were marred by rape and early pregnancy, but my sexuality felt alive and well prior to that, and continues.

I am talk about the dance programs including ballet, jazz, modern where the girls wear what looks like a pound of makeup with provocative clothing.

I am not familiar with the world of dance. But there is a community centre nearby which frequently has dance recitals going on.

The little girls look completely tarted up. Sorry to use this word but it is my impression of these six + year olds with elaborate hairdos & heavy makeup.

They are usually in fancy dress and I guess they must come with a change of outfits. Generally speaking the moms are hauling big suitcases on wheels in from the parking lot.
