And if that's understood going in, that's fine. The real question is whether it was understood. My point is that it can't happen under the new system. If you start with a premium you have to maintain the premium.
Can this be negotiated? Different congregation - partly hypothetical situation - church is doing well when they hire a minister at 15% above basic salary. Fifteen years later the situation has changed. Church struggling financially. Secretary and sexton's hours are cut. The soloist refuses the usual honourarium. The annual budget is being prepared - the finance people meet with the minister ????
