Room for All
Good morning folks. May your Sunday be wonderfilled. I am thankful for a delicious thanksgiving meal which my sister made yesterday. (Not s thankful for the GI evening that followed, but...it was likely coming anyhow..part of the treatment...)
Today, I am going to attend the funeral of a wonderful woman who passed away to early, just before her 65th birthday. She had lots of great qualities, including being a professional soloist, singing in congregations and synagogues in Toronto. Her husband was a creative and dynamic personality who led our congregation in many ways...until the old school finally was able to take him down. It was one of our congregational crash and burns. It is a sign of how far the church came and who he is, that he had been re-engaged and that the funeral will be at the church.
I have not attended the church for a few years now, other than occassionally, and when I do, I tend to be approached, "when are you coming back", "we miss you" by those who are not in leadership and the current minister. I know that with my health issue and the announcement of my impending demise, there will be those who also approach, so I was struggling with going. I have an easy excuse, the immune compromised (me and those at Juravinski)
Yet, I want to attend a funeral.
Plan was made. A minister friend is going, and another good friend. They are going to grab seats with enough room for me to sit between them and will add morale and physical support. I will then arrive just before the service, and slip into them. The area they are picking is easy to get out of should i need to in a hurry.
