I like No Frills, but it's possibly largely because it's my 'local' supermarket. Can walk there; worked there as a teenager, etc.

Okay, that makes good sense then. Are any of the same workers still there since you worked there as a teen?

Believe it or not, a couple. Although the store has changed from a Dominion to a Mr. Grocer to a No Frills over the years. But I also like it because everything is consistently substantially cheaper than other stores in the Loblaws chain, and I do like PC products. And our particular store seems to have a real talent for fresh produce, and sourcing local stuff. There's a local farm with a crop of fall strawberries and they ALWAYS carry them. There's several apartment buildings with large seniors populations around, and they're also good at small portion sizes in the meat section, etc.

That's good stuff. They're being wise to who's in their community and tailoring their store to them. I've noticed that No Frills seem to vary a lot, perhaps depending on who the owners and managers are. The No Frills nearest to us is the sole-surviving store in a rundown shopping mall. We find it messy, and feel that the quality of meats, produce, and customer service are better at the nearby Food Basics, which is part of the Metro chain.
 
Cut myself yesterday. Nothing major, actually stupidly small, but due to soil tetanus is a concern. Spent the day contacting people about this after healthlink was a bust (as usual) yesterday. A doctor had mentioned tetanus immunoglobin to me before, so I was asking about whether that's reasonable pre-symptoms for something ridiculously minor. The rec coming from high within the health care system is get the vaccine but to check with my allergist, haven't come across a doctor yet who will confirm.

I'm annoyed as I'm starting to wonder how much benefit this will be tomorrow if I risk it, which is why I even bothered with healthlink since it was Sunday. Couldn't even get into my own clinic today, you think healthlink could have at least been useful and got this ball rolling, instead I went to a clinic only to be told to go to a health centre.
 
Do you begin to wonder that professionals of all Ire-c don't really know that much ... not unlike the rest of us when it comes to the theory of everything (everything being god)? Thus we can call it the unknown "God Theory"! It's as old as the 10 lost tribes since we got so confident to believe we know what isn't here ... a tense situation when we look at what they did to two tribes of spirit ... man and anti-man ... those that don't love their breath-erin ... as a gnoe-in or Gnoestic device to warn them of fowlers auras ... fear of God thing when you come across it ... then there is those directives to be not afraid!

Come on folks get it up your curiosity ... learn of the Nous parts before you have to repeat the process at this step of the game you can't see ...

Biblical etude is expansive and exhaustive .. wide reaching ... uses many books like going to the OX Ford to read a'far things ...
 
This seems like a nothing week.
Usually the last week of August people are getting back from vacation, our church holds VBS - then we have Labor Day and get busy:
back to school for the kids and students - clubs, teams, committees, support groups start holding meetings, planning for fall - doctor's appointments that were put off during vacation time are scheduled. My September calendar is full - bowling meeting and the league starts up; fasting blood test, appointment with my family doctor, neurologist, and eye doctor; square dancing; book club; Parkinsons Support group meeting; several church meetings; Presbytery meeting; and back to our Wednesday program with the people at risk who come to our church looking for help. Yes, a busy month.
But this week my calendar is empty. Even no grandson coming today. Family shifts mean Pete doesn't go to work until mid-afternoon, big sister will be home by 5:00. Grandson is going to practice staying home alone for a couple of hours in preparation for next week when he'll be coming home on the school bus some days before big sister gets home from university.
 
I'm still waiting, was told I should get a call yesterday or this morning. Yesterday I was leaning more towards getting it, now I've looked at info, a 'dirty' cut should be getting the Tig injection, but that was decided no. I'm guessing my risk isn't all that high, otherwise I would think they would be giving it to me.

Now I'm thinking if I'm not going to get any advice from a doctor who's at least met me previously I won't get it right now. I am starting to realize how often this may pop up though, so it would be good to reassess but I want good advice from someone who actually sees me in person and knows me and not to be rushed.
 
Feeling stuck. Allergist requests a new referral as the last time I saw him was 2014. If public health was really concerned, why aren't they getting me into an immunologist as an emergency case?

They had me plan to stick around longer than normal if I did go with it. I found out why today, in case I had a laryngeal attack due to my HAE they would treat me with epinephrine *sigh* Not exactly a confidence booster. They also bring up allergic reactions. What I had does not fit into a true allergic reaction.

I can't get much information. My weird reaction, unknown. Risk of tetanus, not getting any data there, other than it's known to be in Alberta. They don't even have any data on soil samples for me.

I'm trying to go with some common sense stuff. How many people are bad for not getting their boosters on time? How many people have injuries similar to or worse than mine in the garden or other places with an equal or higher risk of the bacteria? How many people actually get tetanus?
 
Hi Chemgal, tetanus shots last for x years (can't remember how long). Sounds liike you may need to review all the items that we get done every x years, and get a plan. Sucks to have to be in this situation.

Typically it's every 10 years, but I was told before not to get any regularly. After my reaction I had a bit of a plan - not to get them on a regular basis and I would have the option of Tig instead of the vaccine if I had an injury. That was before I knew about HAE, so that's now also a concern, although I know how to deal with that at least. I'm not even certain about pre-treating though, as it's suppressing certain aspects of the immunological response, so it could make the vaccine less effective.

I was kind of expecting being told of symptoms and to watch carefully for them due to the nature of this injury. Or being offered other options, with watching being one.
 
My aunt is discontinuing her chemo...and the doctor will begin the conversation about palliative care. Gulp. I don't like this version of reality.

Sorry Nancy. Where are your aunt and uncle currently? Both at the hospital, home, etc?
 
End of life is never an easy time, and it can be fraught with unnavigated decisions. Prayers for peace for you and yours, Nancy.

*Bette puts out an array of cool drinks, alcoholic and non, and some evening nibbles - nuts and fruit*

I imagine that she put a lot of thought into her decision, but it's still hard to accept.
