Thanks Carolla. Besides some ice cubes and some turkey bacon we'll cook up tomorrow everything's out so at least that job is done and I can rest.
I'll probably get some more things planted tomorrow, hopefully it will be much more restful!

Sounds like a rough day in a series of rough days, Chemgal. Sleep well

Beloved, 4" of snow! Sorry. Soon that will pass and garden weather will return

I slept all evening. I fell asleep in the car on the way home from my the party, sat on the couch, fell asleep, son came home, heard him, fell back asleep, and now am going back to bed. Long shifts are rough

Beloved, it sounds like you were a few days behind us for the snow. I was surprised how long it lasted on the deck, although it had formed some good ice there. We were followed by some warm weather, but it took a few days for it to melt. Hopefully yours will melt soon too!

Thanks for the tips chansen!! My husband spent a whole season trying to perfect his ribs ... but never did zero in on anything spectacular. He does take that membrane off it it - has got that pretty well down pat. I think it makes a difference where you buy the meat too. The mustard is a new thought - and the smoking chips. We have a gas grill, & we did try a little smoker box many years ago - may even have been a diff BBQ then - not a great result. Might be time for a re-do!
Smoker boxes let in too much air. A foil packet, folded and sealed, is the best bet. Put the packet over the heat. Your grill will billow smoke. Might need a new one every 1-2 hours. Use indirect heat on the ribs.

It's that simple.

Chemgal.....thinking of you.

Thunder storms are in the forecast for this area aas well - but right now (an hour after sunrise) the weather is quite nice. And Seelergirl's childhood friend is in town to run a half-marathon. She estimates that it will take her anything from 2 1/2 hours to forever; but we are planning a luncheon at about 1:30 to celebrate Mother's Day and her efforts. I look forward to seeing this young woman who I haven't seen in over five years. As a young teen she spent so many weekends with us at our camp that the neighbours thought we had two daughters.

There's no place like home, there's no place like home, there's no place like home ... you sound exhausted pinga - be well.

I hope you're feeling better today, chemgal.

Our roommate came home from California very early in the morning the other day with her new rescue dog, a chihuahua besenji cross (which I didn't realize but he's slightly bigger than a chihuahua, and not a "teacup"). He is cute - he's practically attached to her ankles everywhere she goes, and would avoid me until last night - he looked at me, responded to his name, and did "shake a paw" AND he sat beside me while my roommate was at the other side of the couch - so he's getting used to me. It's a breakthrough. :) it's fun having a dog. It's different than having a cat. He's still shy of my husband.

But with three people here again after she was away for over a month - she's a night owl, she works overnights often or stays up as if she was, and I have been getting interrupted sleep/ wonky sleep schedule again, which drags me down. So I have to get that back on track, and adjust to the full house inconveniences/ lack of privacy and less space again. So, a bit bummed out about that reality, it was nice to be just the two of us for a month, but I'll adjust.

Thanks everyone. I finally had a long sleep where I didn't wake up multiple times - an allergy med definitely helped with that. Chemguy woke me up for breakfast. Turkey bacon isn't the easiest thing to eat, had to do it slowly but it was doable. I probably ate a little less than I typically would have, but that's not necessarily a bad thing :p Then I had a long morning nap. Not too tough of a morning. Living out of a mini fridge is going to be a bit frustrating; all of the less commonly used stuff fits better at the front but at least after buying a large fridge we were still able to buy the mini one. There are others who would have to go without if they were in our place.

Extra allergy medications plus some sun has calmed my skin down. Not perfect, but it's not extremely itchy and burning in multiple places anymore. All those ice packs were not helping, and no one tells you about the drool! lol Once I was able to lean slightly to one side I started sleeping with a face cloth under my cheek. I think I'm mostly past that too.

It's a nice day today. Chemguy's out getting more stuff for the garden. Once he's back we'll figure out best phone call times and I'll spend time in the garden getting stuff into the raised beds. We'll probably BBQ tonight, we have some bell peppers that have gone slightly soft. Dunno what to do for meat, steak is out. Probably chicken breasts, will have to figure something out, BBQ or dry with spice isn't too appealing right now. Maybe souvalaki style, even if we cook them whole. There's feta in the fridge, depending on how much we might manage to get rid of one more thing that's sitting in there.

The dog sounds like a cutie pie Kimmio. My Dad got a rescue dog (boston terrier) last November ... and really, it's made a huge change in his life. I think really it was he who was rescued. These dogs do sometimes come with 'issues' ... hopefully your room-mate's will gradually befriend the man in your house.

@ChemGal - maybe I missed something ... why are living out of a little mini fridge? (Can't crawl out from behind the bar? Just kidding!)

Had a great vegetarian lunch prepared by my son & his gf - she's taking a 'wholistic nutritionist' course - so it was probably the healthiest Mother's Day meal anywhere!! Then they headed off to the TFC home opener ... hopefully the rain will bypass the stadium!!

Spent the afternoon in my garden ... planted some poppy seeds I bought at Canada Blooms back in March. Had to scramble to find them again! Hopefully they will thrive in the locations I've chosen. And @Beloved ... I see seedlings where I popped in the seeds you sent me last fall!

Because the universe decided our freezer above our fridge should stop working while I'm recovering. I was worried about the motor burning out or starting a fire or something if left on, and when the freezer portion is shut off the fridge shuts off too. Luckily I'm past the point of needing ice packs on my face!
Our new one is scheduled to be delivered mid next week. Hanging out behind a bar until then doesn't sound like too bad of an idea!

Today was good, got a ton done in the garden. Chemguy has the rubber stone things down too, much nicer than walking on mulch.

I had my second bubble tea since the surgery. First one was before I was on solids and I ate it with a spoon. This time I used the straw. The cold was great, as I had allowed the naproxen to wear off. It's the first thing I've purposely chewed with my molars. Felt so good!

Mole R's???

The last thing the fu'de sees when going down ... then re-absorption as a heir or less hair bean ... becoming?

Shoulda been quicker to avoid the bite ... Mac Thee Knife?

There is an edge to all-understanding ... beyond thip ale ...

Anon po' ETihc sensi is required for outside sourcing ... just ouda ere ...

Some days I just don't know what folks are talking about. (It is obviously ME that doesn't keep up with consumer trends). So - Chemgal - what the bleep are rubber stone things???

I wouldn't have known about them if we weren't looking to see what is out there!

The edging (picture is in the gardening thread, not sure how easily it is seen) is made out of the same material.

WOW - thanks a million Kimmio. That stuff looks like it is exactly what we need to fix a problem area or two. We have a bit of back yard that is 'supposed' to be lawn but in reality is messy bit of overused weedy grass (that our wee dogs tend to use as a bathroom during the winter and dig in during the summer). We have also been wanting to improve the floor just inside the back door, which is the one we use all the time. Currently it has some aged cushion floor with 'pokes' through the top surface. It is always a mess from people and dogs going in and out. Whatever goes there needs to be non-slippery or we risk someone skidding on a snow melt puddle and falling down the open stairway to the basement. The envirotile looks like it will be perfect for us!! Hubby agrees and is going to check it out.

I think you meant Chemgal :)

Good morning. What a lovely day. There was a delightful breeze coming in windows last night, anyone feel it.

i was thinking of making a fruit salad, but all I have is a banana. Maybe we can make a potluck fruit salad....throw in your fruit. will be nice for lunch, and of course, in this room it never browns or ages.

I've an interesting day today, and of course, the standard pressures of juggling overdues with inbound work, missing data, deliverables, and everything else. I have three people who focus on deliverables, making decisions, clearing items off their plate. The others, to varying degrees do not. I am not a fan on having to followup on status updates from people to prod them, especially adults.

Beautiful day here in West Dea

Providing a lovely blood orange to go in the fruit salad.
