Mark Carney’s dad dance lol

He really seems like a dorky dad joke kind of guy. He’s like a more fair and reasonable non populist alternate universe version of Jordan Peterson. That said, probably not a good idea to idolize him - and still challenge him when needed - because I suspect he won’t be perfect.

Gotta love it when the feds and provinces work at cross-purposes. Smith is going to be a real PITA for Carney, I suspect. Moving to undermine him at every turn.
She already is. :( She has no intentions on working together at all.

I'm still crossing my fingers for a majority government.

It’s like when the parent chaperone dances at the the party and embarrasses his kids but their friends think he’s pretty cool. Those are some Elaine Benes moves, actually. (I actually shouldn’t criticize but I’m only joking. It’s nice to see him having fun and letting his hair down.)

In the media? Not that I've seen here in RK
Why would it be covered there? Part of choosing to move to Korea is that you will hear less of what happens in Canada (and really it has not been a really big story here either for the large part)

And they are now saying it is a Liberal minority. CBC's tracker shows only two seats still in play and the Conservatives lead in both. That leaves the Liberals with 169 seats, 3 shy of a majority (172). The NDP and the Bloc each have more than enough seats to make up the difference so Carney will have to play ball with them on some level. Maybe not a formal agreement like we saw with Trudeau and Singh, but tossing them enough bones to keep them happy and discourage them from siding with the CPC on confidence votes. The flipside is that the Tories need both the NDP and Bloc onside if they decide to defeat the Liberals so they also need to play ball with the others to some degree, too. Fun session ahead, me thinks. Hope they all put politics aside for a bit and try to focus on dealing with the economic issues raised by Trump as well as some other issues we face.

Well, obviously

Given the visits to Alberta and the Pro Alberta and pipelines and fossil fuels Mark Carney said...

He's doing his part...whether Danielle stops fighting and starts cooperating is another story - and based on what I've seen so far, she doesn't plan too. :P

So what is she like as a person, do you know? Is she a fellow artist at all?
Don't know her personally, but professionally, she likes to create controversy - was a talk-show host for years. As a premier, any good she is doing is getting overshadowed by the scandals and problems in her government (of her making) - cracks are getting bigger and bigger. When she says she's doing the best for AB, what she means is she is doing whatever she wants for herself. Majority want to keep the RCMP in AB - she's still going ahead to replace with a prov police force anyway. Majority don't want to op out of the CPP - she's still going ahead with it anyway. Majority don't want to leave Canada - she's still planning on making it happen anyway (hence our own police and pension plan???) As to being an artist - I have no clue.

Is right wing separatist politics an art form? She seems pretty good at that :LOL:
The original party she led - Wildrose - was a very far-right party and even though she crossed the floor to the UCP to guarantee a win at the time (thankfully it backfired and she lost), she's always been more separatist. Watch SK response to Carney's win and Danielle's - quite the opposite tones.

Yeah, I remember hearing about Wildrose. Alberta seems to be a magnet for this kind of politics. Reform's roots are out there. Western Canada Concept or something like that, too, IIRC.

We had UFA, So-cred, and more. Some have been beneficial parties at the time - Social Credit was very long-lived provincially. Others are just wingnut magnets.

I found out that our infamous restaurant owner on the hwy held a rally for our local People's Party of Canada candidate on the weekend (pre-election). Sigh, did Maxime lose his seat? Please tell me Maxime lost his seat!

He hasn't had a seat since they split from the CPC. Lost it the first time he ran as the People's Party. He was a bit of a ass even as a Tory. The whole NATO documents thing, for instance.

I have always associated the Socreds with BC because of Bill Bennett and Bill Vander Zalm (did they have a thing for the name "Bill"?).
