Canada is suffering a health care crisis and shortage of medical professionals. Thus, my Canadian cousin had to wait 5 years for an operation on a hole in his heart. Further exacerbating this problem is the brain drain of Canadian medical professionals (like my brother) to the USA:
The number of Canadian nurses fleeing to the USA has doubled in the past 5 years:

Why so many Canadian doctors are moving to the USA:

You really hate Canada don't you Mystic. You're falling for spin. Our health system is flawed and needs improvement for sure. It can rise to the occasion when necessary. I really doubt your cousin had to wait five years to have a hole in his heart repaired. If he had to wait that long, it was for something else.

I am in some groups with Americans getting cancer treatment. They have to worry whether their insurance will cover standard of care treatments. They have to fight with insurance wonks. Some end up with huge bills from treatment.

In what world is it good that owning a gun is a right and health care is a privilege. That's messed up.

But sure, keep sticking up for the regime and its spin.

Oh and if (when) Medicare/Medicaid get cut things will be far worse for people needing health care in the US. Unless you're a rich white man and his family.

This is the wonderful American health system. No thanks. I'll fight to keep "socialized medicine" and also to remain Canadian.

This is what someone posted in a group I'm in. It's not the first time I've seen something like this:

"Hey all! I’m so annoyed. My insurance has denied my Lupron and Xgeva, and I’m being billed $36k for my January and February injections. I don’t want Zoladex OR Zometa. Is there a way to fight this?"

This woman is dealing with cancer and has to deal with this s**t too?? That's so wrong.

There is a great difference between the idea that the people should rule and the use of polls to determine public policy or manipulate the people’s will.

If you doubt that, just take a poll.

It is an endogeneity matter ... a word previously debated that seemed not to matter as nothing is the greatest normal ... if you are astute about the quality!

It may follow the Zero Sum Rule as protocol of OZ ... thus awesome space that we tumbled out of as folly ... Holei Grey Ill?

Remember ... only nothing is perfect ... but in the real world (reality?) can nothing exist without contamination from something?

Thus nothing must be elsewhere ... some strange domain with restricted portals ... needle point of the mind? It is a sharp position ...

Thus we always drift towards nothing as a dippy position in the quantum fabric of space-time ... appearing like a funnel ... "V" in 2 dimensions ...

Thus Via Con Dios ... and the Gods get out first ... leaving the devil with the remnants like mystic forces ... his brutal front? Search behind that for ration ... and whats there? Exactly he does know either ... we come to this real place to experience the lack of essences in duality ... concern and knowledge!

Knowledge is trashed easily ... just ban all the records! Many journals have disappeared or disintegrated in inflammation theory ...

NB is back into arguments about neurological deficiency caused by poly phosphate abuse ... no one in power will admit it for fear of responsibility assignments ... sound psychotic? It is dark and mysterious disorder ... like DID! (it used to be part of the DSM!)

Now if the greatest President of all time can get the world populace to think like him ... nothing can be achieved ... alas I have doubts ... there will be trouble because folly exists as a scattered quality ... if reality succeeds nothing would fail and space-time would fail to expand! Imagine time contracting ... a shadow agreement ... at the foot of the temple wall!

If one of the 3 lies won't do ... try the alternate ... a myth ... test it brutely hammer ide down as nihilist! Thus it will be dark in the materialist!

If nothing else it makes for a good tale for group beyond realistic comprehension ... telling? (from the objective point which is out there; extenuating?)

Yup I really appreciate the healthcare system in this country. But we can't deny it is two tiered when it comes to a lot of things.

Maybe even 3 headed ... considering the types of lies identified in another thread ... weave "M" ... thus mediums ...

That probably depends on which province you're in to some degree. I'm agreeing with you for the record. :)

I have met some of the horror stories from our southern neighbour. It is impossible for me to understand how insurance companies can decide medical treatments. Surely that becomes 'practising medicine without a licence'? When I was diagnosed with a fungus in a lung, I had an online contact in the US who was also diagnosed with the same thing. Canadian care included the expensive meds - for $$25 a month. Full cost was nearly $6,000 I think. The other woman was denied coverage for the effective medication. After a while she stopped posting and the understanding was that she died. It is sobering to know that I could have died too. (Several times with various diseases, actually).

Here in Ontario there are some absolutely ridiculous things going on. My favorite example is how the provincial seniors drug plan covers insulin and all diabetic testing supplies. But NOT insulin needles. Those are covered by another provincial plan (assistive devices) but only at a small percentage of the actual cost.

This situation doesn't cause me any personal hardship but it makes no sense. My pharmacist told me many seniors reuse the needles which are meant for single use only.

I agree. I've heard Americans say they wouldn't want the government in the exam room with them. The government insurance has fairly clear statements on what it will and won't cover. I've never felt the government presence with me when I'm with the doctor or other health services. I don't understand how Americans think it's okay for capitalist insurance companies to overrule medical decisions.

I've been thankful that the expensive drugs I've taken have been covered. I've had one that was covered through a program of the drug company. That was more of a hassle, but it worked out and by comparison to some American issues, was fairly smooth. I've been prescribed another drug which is somehow covered by some program. It turns out I may not need it.

It doesn't make sense does it. Poor coverage like that encourages unsafe practices like reusing single use items. That in turn can cause other health issues which can be expensive. Sometimes (often?) providing supports etc in a "socialist" manner is more economical in the end.

I will also admit that this rise of Canadian Nationalism is both activating and bizarre :3

Went in our gov't liquor store today and saw some empty shelves along with a Canadian Nationalistic sign

We are living in interesting times

Yuo, my cousin in BC had to wait 5 years to get his heart repaired. Amd wjen I needed surgery as a child, my specilist in Winnipeg urged my parents o take me to Boston for a better surgeon than I could get in Canada.

If I had the money and it was a matter of life or death, I would use USA's system

Otherwise, Canada

It isn't fair imho to compare the two, tho

They are completely different animals

It would be more fair to compare Canada to Australia imho

Otherwise, we are just vulva waving here

In BC, the wait times for heart surgeries are a whole lot shorter than five years. For example, as of early 2025, 90% of open-heart surgeries are completed within about 5 months, depending on the hospital and surgeon. A five-year wait would be highly unusual.

Regarding Winnipeg parents being advised to seek surgery for their child in Boston, that's not common either
