Then they should apply to become US citizens
A large number of the 43% of young Canaidans have long sought U.S citizenship--and here are some of the key reasons why:
"The cause of brain drain has been consistent for decades: the appeal of a higher wages and a larger market of employers in the United States. Currently, the unprecedented cost of housing in Canada – both rental and ownership – is also contributing to the attraction to the U.S."

I've known several people who lived in the US for awhile then returned to Canada. They realized they had it much better on this side of the border. I used to work with a physician who didn't like having to have a gun in his desk drawer. Surprisingly to you, most people quite like Canada. Many of us believe it is the best country in which to live. Shocking, I know.

We Canadians are pretty tough, Mystic. We face problems directly and find answers that help us all. Being Canadian is more than just a paycheck. It's belonging to in a place where people like different cultures, are nice to each other, and think everyone should have healthcare.

Canada is blessed to have amazing natural views and a culture that cares about community. You can't pay for that kind of thing, Mystic. Canada's got a lot going for it. And the best of our smart young people stay Canadian

The brafin drain of doctors to the U. S. is greater than vice versa due to higher American wages and greater opportunities. My doctor brother is a g oood case in point. Your need to cite the extreme case of a Canadian doctor is a giggle-worthy extreme case that you know very well does not apply to the vast majjority of American doctors. So why are Canadians always complaining about the shortage of doctors?

Oh, I Ilke Canada and Canadians. I curled there a couple of times. But I prefer the vast repertoire of various athletic competitions in the U. S.
One huge difference is that Americans are bonkers over college football and basketball. Major college football games here attract100,000 spectators.
Canadians have comparatively little interest in college sports. For a sports fan like me who has coached college soccer, that's a huge difference.
And J don't miss those c-c-cold Winnipeg winters.

Actually I know more than one health professional who returned to work in Canada, including my GP oncologist. They prefer working here. Sure, throw your anecdotal "evidence" as superior to mine. College football is not superior to other sports. But believe what you want so it can feed your feelings of superiority.

Agree....not sure about 43% but it happens, same with doctors.

I actually can't imagine a more trivial, and spiritually dead, reason, to be devoted to a country because it has good college sports teams.

Mileage on these things, of course, varies. But it's really, really hard to respect some opinions, and to love some people.

And I am a bit miffed at myself for getting so upset about the stupid nickname. I'm reading Robert Harris's Munich, about the outset of WW2, and the contrast between the language of today and yesterday is distressing to me. But I also confess to occasionally enjoying calling the U.S. President the orange felon, so mea culpa; I'm a hypocrite.
I am glad you made it through

(what an experience, tho hoosht!)

The 49ers? C'mon ;3 Them's fightin woids *waggles eyebrows*

Which is, I think, in a fair respect, a spiritual challenge. The love bit

Sorry all, I've got to put on my English Teacher's hat.

Mystic, "brafin"? "g oood"? "attract100,000"? "vast majjority"? How can someone who self-reportedly holds a doctorate from Harvard have such weak spelling skills?

Canadians who like sports have televisions. Apparently this is not the case in the great U.S. ... I actually can't imagine a more trivial, and spiritually dead, reason, to be devoted to a country because it has good college sports teams.
You remind me of those repressed souls who have never had sex, but enjoy it vicariously by watching porn movies.
You must live an emotionally dreary life, having never bonded with the thrill and excitement of a huge crowd, enhancing their collective joy by cheering on their team, in which they are passionately invested. People around here routinely drive 350 miles to a Seattle Sea Hawks football game and glaadly pay $100 to $1,000 per ticket, not to mention the cost of parking. Every Sunday afternoon, my male buddies and I play fiercely competitive card games at Mike's house, while Mike's wife has her eyes glued to the tube, tensely watching her favorite NFL team play football. Life is too short not to have fun. And it's not as if we don't have a huge variety of interests and amusements.

@Jaebius, I'm recovering form cataract surgery and can' see my computer screen as clearly as I wish. Sometimes I don't care about the need to proofread what I type!

That is probably the best explanation why the mass of Americans has elected a President who is dumb but can put up a good show.

Generally the consequence of selling the soul ... it is biblical and will amount to nothing in total but a large physical gob ... as the essence has been extracted and directed out into space-time ... that witch is beyond us ... Moen in ... and groaning causing a cosmos hum ...

Imagine essence you'll wealth ... as dispatched soul ... so it detaches ... always opposition and alternate directives as the dirt falls out ... sometimes exceptional entanglement ... happens both way to support synchronicity! The balanced medium that cannot be observed from many points! Titters???

Ipsos poll: 43% of young Canadians (age 18-24) favor joining the USA!

THis poll does not appear show that: (though stats are an interesting thing, Mark Twain said something about three types of lies: lies, damned lies and statistics; I remember another quote "statistics are like bikinis...what they reveal is interesting what they conceal is vital")

There is a great difference between the idea that the people should rule and the use of polls to determine public policy or manipulate the people’s will.

If you doubt that, just take a poll.
