Right, but some people seem to always ascribe whining to women and when a woman is being assertive, the "b" word gets used. Sexism is not yet dead, unfortunately.
Agree with you on that one, Mendalla. Down with all the isms

I like Singh. I've been disappointed in him lately. I wish he'd take a stronger stand. I suspect he's more of a mediator/peace maker and that it's difficult for him to do that. He has had lots of practice standing up to bullies in his life. I wish he would do that better now.
Yeah. That’s a better way to be - peacemaker. But someone like Trump - who has a narcissistic disorder - just sees that quality as a weakness. So then people have to try to get inside his head to match him. How unpleasant. It would not be a fun job to be a world leader right now. Especially if you’re not insane.

I'm glad more leaders are speaking out against the US president. The new German chancellor spoke out well. France's Macron called the felon out to his face. Europe is working to strengthen its position and to be less dependent on the US. I hope Canada works to find allies too. Maybe we can be an alliance with Europe somehow.

I read Germany just took a right turn with their recent election, though? I’d be careful of what they say, and what they actually do.

It is the moderate right and not the extreme right Vance and Musk supported. Of course, reserving judgment is good. Perhaps I'm just glad the overtly fascist party didn't win.

Isn’t it a coalition govt with more right as well as far right members now? The overt fascists have more seats than before, no? Maybe @Mrs.Anteater can tell us?

Edit: this is actually a good explanation (I think?). The coalition could go several ways. It hasn’t been picked by the winner yet. I’m not too familiar with their electoral system.

Yep

Both can be right

Omg, there are sooo many men parts in Hamlet -- not enough women. Feeling sorry for the biowomen in the play who want to play biowomen

Yes, the fascist AFD party has doubled their presence and got 20% of the votes, however, the conservative party has more- but not enough to govern by themselves, meaning they have to build a coalition and the only option is with the social democrats. The AFD party got even more votes in the East German provinces, which historically had certain corners with increased Alt-Nazism anyway, but also considering the youngest East German history with being used to a totalitarian government and being disadvantaged after the reunion for many years.
The 20+% of baby boomers have actually rescued the democracy by voting the old set of democratic parties, while the AFD had been voted for mainly by 20-40 year olds. Sowith the boomers dying out, the political scene can shift to the worse. By the way, the amount of people voting has been the highest since the election after the German Unionification, somewhere over 80%.

It is all about power and power demands more competition an conflict and thus larger holes where there used to be a settled piece ...

You could say the phenomenon of piece was shattered thus shards of noumena ... alas most people don't know that word as accumulations of word frighten them ... consider how people fear the bible, considered to be the word!

Then there is the myth of the firing of Dan McGrew ... because of a critter that agitated the contents of the bar ... Fire-Keepers? Hold your water because we're trying to thaw the vessel on Lake La Farge ...

What's a farge ... that may be a shade off ... when Nacht falls ... most people are out of it then anyway ... having their thoughts rearranged ... in due mystery ... something that none of us appears to know at present given what we elect! Orbs ???? Round heads ... no point to eM ... the dunces are in a place that they could learn ... the others already claim to know it all ... and the mean's too thin to make a difference ... a queue Dais rising as Hesperus? As Perus the trouble ... and send it back to bed ...

And the Hungarian dictator Victor Orban , who is Trumps buddy, and role model, has congratulated not the winning CDU party, but the AFD.
The Deity Media must be fed :(

Congrats on that uncommon election election to Germany; I was rooting for Die Linke

Apparently it was a good voter turnout as well; Germany's democracy is alive! :3

Maybe this has come up and I missed it, but today the Globe's morning update had a piece on the leadership campaign that pointed out something interesting: Carney is the godfather of one of Freeland's kids. Apparently he's a friend of her husband moreso than her but still, it appears this could be more of a friendly rivalry than we are seeing in the media.

I understand the candidates were friendly with each other during the debate. They were speaking against common enemies rather than being enemies. I may see if I can find video of it today.

Imagine common enemies ... would the stoop ide be woke to that? Unlikely because of the urge to naught know nothing ...

Out of their hands ... Yah! Beyond normal sense ...

I listened to a bit of it, and got a bit of it. Carney's French is pretty appalling; good on him for trying.
