more signs of spring:

picking up a fallen blooming dandylion and breathing deeply, reminding me i have forgotten what a dandylion really smells like until that moment -- now its looking at me from one of my mom's glasses with some sugar water (1 t) & an antibacterial penny

spending time at my CPA-and-wife's place (who are good christians) in the hinterlands at the edge of a sprawling valley city, i got to see my first hummingbird of 2015

waking up to the sound of water dripping -- puzzlement, fuzzy brain trying to explain the sound -- momentary fear of a burst pipe -- then open the curtains and see the downpour hazing out the surroundings

rootbeer-coloured streams bubbling through forests and ditches and curtaining over logs and rocks where the fae sleep and dream of the before time

pussywillows waking up after their long nap and peeking out 'is it time yet?'
 
I couldn't find this thread when I posted about the ladybugs - I've seen 3 so far. Today feels less spring than last week.

The tap water certain smells like spring tap water! Pretty potent today!
 
well, it's raining now ... I can hear it pinging on my windows & chimney. I did notice some green shoots emerging from the soil in the garden right beside the house where it's warmer - I think day lilies, daffodils & maybe some hyacinth.
 
We experienced some kind of freak power outage last night. There were strange, unusual noises outside followed by the power quickly going off and back on again. Hydro claims there was just a time of unusually low voltage. I suspect it was caused by a refueling space ship.
 
It's funny what a difference the shade makes. Our front yard has no snow. Our backyard is mostly covered. The houses directly across from us have about 3 feet of snow in their front yards due to it piling up from shoveling.
 
The birdies in this part of the country are clinging for dearlife to the birdfeeder as the snow swirls around them. Second storm this week! Sunday's was a big one. This evening is just nasty but not really amounting to much.
 
Shade ... odd that black plastic spread over the snow attracts the light ... causing well spread drips ...

In NB the flood people are worried about cumulative drips ... such dark intelligence ... causes the emotional to melt down ...
 
It was a very rainstormy day today. Mid afternoon there was a loud rattling boom - a crack of thunder (which doesn't happen all that often). I jumped out of my seat, looked out the window and the rain was just pouring down and running down the street like a shallow stream. If it weren't for the hills we might be flooded. It's lighter now but still coming down pretty hard. The town of Mission on the outskirts of Vancouver had a flash flood apparently. There was some home damage. Sunny periods are expected tomorrow - but it's been a rainy several days.

Prediction for warm (10+) later this week - great - we had a bitterly cold weekend.

Prediction for rain - ugh! We've got enough moisture laying around in white stuff to keep the ground watered for at least a month. And the river watch is on the alert.

We did see a cardinal yesterday - lots of red polls - some chickadees.
 
We seem to be into the roller coaster phase of early spring. Cold the last couple mornings, but getting warmer as the week goes on, then dropping again by the weekend.

Starting to see some signs of life around here, but no robins or other spring birds yet, just ones like cardinals and crows that don't migrate.
 
WOOT, WOOT - yesterday was around 0C, grey, cloudy and a bit too windy for comfort. But..........I saw two geese flying overhead, the first of the season for me. Today we have been 'promised' some more snow, but so far it is much like yesterday. I guess we'll get whatever weather we get!
