I thought "Women Talking" was the best movie I've seen seen in some time. I saw it last week, and I'm still thinking about it. I'll be interested in knowing what you think about it.
One of our Friends, a Quaker fromTexas, who appearently knew the real story behind it, said that they changed the end to make it look good- in reality, the women never made it out of their community. But I will let you know what I think after I have seen it.

Good morning! For Gospel songs and karaoke machines, decluttering and attachment to books, for weddings and movies, and all the other stuff that goes on, we gather round the Coffee Cart for conversation and community, as well as hot beverages. All is ready, come on in.

Thus the mater was booked ... insubstantial in a closed tome that few read into adequately ... mainly because of fear of the opening??? Ma'am is data euw? Oelle ord ...

This afternoon I watched Women Talking - wow. So many times I wished I had pen & paper to write down a statement or question - there's a lot to ponder in this film. Also beautiful cinematography. It will be interesting to see how it does at the Oscars tonight & what statements are made about it.

wow, certainly, this is something else. I noticed that at the beginning of the movie the girl talking says something like : “ this is how the women dreamed?/ imagined ? how it could have been”.
Since in reality, it didn’t.
It is certainly an impressive movie. I found some of the dramatic music at the flash backs a bit over the top.
But I think I would give it an Oskar. Though, it should rather be an Oskarine.

Happy Monday morning to you! As the Oscars are history for another year, as one film seems to be mentioned here, what did you think about the awards, the actors, the beige red carpet et al? For this discussion, and for other topics, the Coffee Cart is ready. All is ready, come and get it.

Yesterday, I was wiped still from sinus bug. Slept over 6 hrs including a very deep sleep until 6:30pm

Downside of that, couldn't sleep last night. Argh.

The upside of it: no problem staying awake to watch the Oscars

I didn't watch, but of the stories I have seen so far this morning, my favorites is about 94-year-old Chinese-American actor James Hong clowning on the red carpet (he's in Everything, Everywhere, All at Once).

And, of course, Sarah Polley landing an Oscar for adapted screenplay for the aforementioned "Women Talking". She's come a long way from Road to Avonlea, eh. And only 44, so lots of time for more great work to come.

Sinus type problems are the pits. I have had something sinus like going on since Christmas. Doesn't seem like a typical infection - no thick green discharge at any point. I observed, visited my dentist and eye doc to rule out those sources of face pain and streaming nose. Tomorrow I go to see my doc!

Other than 'it feels sinus like' I haven't got a clue! It doesn't seem as painful as neuralgia (at least, I have been told that is excruciating). Could be almost anything, or nothing, I suppose. Tomorrow I'll drop it on my doc - who has been pretty good so far in my experience.

Daughter in law's dad is not doing too well following heart surgery. He was sent home, got put in the local hospital a few days later. Then sent to the 'big' hospital with fluid around the lungs. Next he developed pneumonia. This will be day three in ICU. Hubby and I thought we would have refused the surgery if it was our decision. We figure getting to 80ish means we don't have to endure major surgery like that. . Mr Curler did it many years ago and recovery was a challenge.

I did watch - and actually enjoy! - the Oscars last night. Things moved along well, Jimmy Kimmel was good (maybe except for the Cocaine Bear bit with the audience). Broader representation than in the past - so I guess they got the "Oscar's so white" message from a recent year. I now have a few new films on my 'to watch' list :) I was somewhat surprised by the runaway that Everything Everywhere acheived - it was definitely "put your mom in the Matrix" as one of the Daniels said was an inspirational thought. So glad to see Sarah Polley recognized & loved her comments. I'm a Jamie Lee Curtis fan ... and appreciated her speech - "WE won"! Oh, and Naatu Naatu - that music was terrific & the dancing .... exhausting even to watch!! Dancers are such endurance athletes. The number at the Oscars got a standing O!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I saw some results, haven't even seen any clips yet like I typically do. Appreciate the link! I don't imagine those dresses are light either.

My sinuses have been remarkably unproblematic of late. Even when I had COVID, they didn't get as bad as they used to with just a cold even a few years ago. Used to get terrible congestion and headaches, occasionally infections. Hope you get yours sorted @KayTheCurler and @JayneWonders.

They tell me the 3 way study of the human mind, psyche, soul scares the bejesus out of folk that would rather learn much about this rational organism ... if they were to learn they would know more about what makes people shamed over nothing! Nothing is often an intimated state of position ... one must know your relation to some base condition ... Ba silly Ka ... heavens!

Here we are under it ... fallout vs fallacy? Point made ...

Re sinus troubles - it plagued me for years - I should probably have bought stock in Sinutab! But I was so surprised when I ditched gluten & dairy from my diet for other reasons - this cleared up most unexpectedly! Prob a diff situation that JayneWonders & KayTheCurler - nasty painful stuff - hope you feel better soon.
