Got news this afternoon that my my Mom's baby sister, my Auntie Marg, passed away peacefully at her home this morning with her family surrounding her. She was 84, so good innings, and the cancer prognosis to death was like less than a month; if you have to go, that's not awful. But still, only two now of Mom's sibs, the older is 92 and frail although mentally competent, the other is 91 and has dementia, but both are still in their homes with lots of help, family and NHS.
But s**t, she was the author of three missives to me every year, birthday, Easter and Christmas. They were long rambling letters that were sometimes fanciful, sometimes a bit confusing, but always conveying a total sense of her way of being in the world - careful, gentle, methodical, loved gardening. She was famously, in our family, the "careful" one. If there was four of you to have a cuppa at her place, there'd be four biscuits on a plate. Then my cuz would tease her, and she'd bring out the packet. I will miss her. RIP, Margaret, you are reunited finally with your Ted.
