One Christmas associated thing I haven't seen mentioned yet is cheese balls,, a globe of soft cheese coated with finely chopped walnuts, used as a spread for crackers. Anyone else remember those?
I've had that type before, but in my family cheeseballs are a dessert, usually just for Christmas but I have done them for other things. Cream cheese, coconut and chopped cherries rolled into bitesized balls and covered in graham cracker crumbs.

Best of all is - help yourself to some of my Best Beloved's traditional fudge.

Dad used to do fudge at Christmas. My youngest brother took it over for a while but since we haven't had a family Christmas since the pandemic started, haven't had any in a while (and, well, eating what is basically flavoured chunks of sugar isn't the greatest idea for me these days).

We made a cheese ball sometime in the last 20 or so years. It was a lot of work for a special gathering.

I used to make fudge. It is a lot of work.

My mother-in-law always did a cheese log. The centre of it was cream cheese and garlic powder mixed together. The coating was made with melted brown sugar and butter. Then it was rolled in chopped pecans.

My word it was delicious!

I thought the Island and lower mainland BC were supposed to briefly experience temperatures close to that, though maybe it is the Interior.

The Lower Mainland and the island would explode if they ever experienced -40. The buildings don't have adequate insulation and the infrastructure isn't there for those extreme temps. We'll see maybe -10 or 11

Chemguy had some work calls today, no the products are not tested to -50. Yes the fluids likely are gelling.
