I am SO grateful to not be in the Vancouver airport at the moment. What a horrendous time people are having there. Such a layered complex problem for the airport to deal with.

Last night I made beef stroganoff in the Instant Pot. It was yummy. Here's a pot for the room. Enjoy.
We have one, too. Mrs. made our "Panamanian" chicken soup (cassava, chicken, carrots, cilantro) the other day. It's based on one we had while touring Panama in 2019.

Anybody stocking up with candles, blankets, water, gas, cooking turkey ahead, etc...in case the power goes off during the coming storm in Ontario?
We are usually pretty well supplied. Our Sunday meal can all be cooked on the BBQ :) - note to self to ask mate if that extra propane tank in the garage is full. Looks like the storm will be mostly a rain, wind & freezing rain event here due to our proximity to Lake Ontario. Snowblower is at the ready tho! Xmas baking is done, gifts are wrapped, now just to clean house - well, maybe after a bit of a nap. Some nights of poor sleep are catching up with me.

One of the worst winter storms I was ever in was one between Windsor and Chatham. Hardly any snow stayed on the ground but the winds were horrendous and the little snow they had was whipped into a blinding blizzard. We and others ended up being led off the highway by police escorts to Chathams Wheels Inn (no longer there) its was a great place to be stranded in the day)
By next morning, hardly any snow on the ground but going back to Stratford on the 401, there were numerous cars tagged on the 401. Never underestimate the wind on open highway. That was about 30 some years ago, and I gained a new respect for nature.

Just a friendly reminder to everyone, fill your tanks, because if the power goes out in your area the gas pumps wont work either.
Also dont forget your triangle (caution) button on your cars that will flash that you are in trouble on the road if you have to pull over.

We have friends that actually got out on Tuesday and made it safely to Quebec. We were surprised they made it. What a gong show. It was a record breaking storm.

Good morning! The locust swarm snow storm has arrived, schools closed, roads bad, etc. Good day (at least here) to stay inside. As we discuss travel, weather, crafts, and Instant Pots, and all the other stuff that happens, let us gather round the Coffee Cart, for warming beverages on such a day, All is ready.

So far, we seem to be on the lighter end of the storm. Didn't get much overnight it appears but it is coming down fairly steadily.

I work remote on Fridays anyhow so not much effect on me.

The vast white oblivion makes the west (world) the greatest blind washout ...

What separates us from the better oriented ... the lo' cussed?

I heard this expression a few times when I lived in Bruce County, but it certainly describes what's happening here-- 'It's snowing sideways.'

Two sleeps left until Christmas, so I have a heaping tray of all kinds of things you shouldn't eat for breakfast. Help yourselves. Personally, I love shortbread for breakfast.

I have a friend driving up to Mount Forest from KW through the snow belt today. I've driven in that neck of the woods a few times and have literally seen "sideways snow".

I would say the snow isn't that heavy here, but the gusts of wind blowing it around are definitely making the visibility worse than it might otherwise be with this amount of snow.
