I am receiving news through chats with my friends of deaths in India of their coworkers or friends.
Some were young, some old. quite sad.

And NS is into two weeks of lockdown. I am actually glad they expanded it to all of NS, so that people are not coming here for shopping. Had to bake apple streusel muffins tonight for some emotional eating. Not very hopeful to loose the Covid weight anytime soon. The cat is now also used to ask for treats any time I am coming close to the treat jar on the kitchen counter. Cats can be very persistent that way. And successful.
My son offered me a goat mower. I declined, I wanted to keep some flowers.

Found out that a man, who last I knew was in amazing shape died yesterday. He had retired 3 years ago. We worked for the same company for 30+ years. I trained him as he was a new hire that was my replacement when I moved from accounting to IT. A great guy who did the speech at my retirement .
It is surreal. Only 60.

I'm feeling frustrated, feeling quite unwell today, very lightheaded. I just saw my Internist yesterday and he didn't mention anything about my blood pressure, normally I ask, but I had other concerns to bring up and he was running behind.
My potassium is low, not sure why.
Talked to my doctor today, as the lightheadedness is fairly extreme - I cancelled phototherapy as I didn't feel like I could get there safely. Doing blood pressure readings and my pulse pressure is pretty low, in isolation the 2 different numbers look fine.

Good morning! Welcome to another new day and new beginning. As we ponder medical procedures, unexpected passings, and lockdowns, amongst pother things, let us gather round the coffee cart, to share in warm beverages and warm friendships. All things are ready. Enjoy.

I hope you are feeling a bit better chem gal. Is your potassium normally lowish? Could be affecting your blood pressure.

definately good idea not to drive. Wondering if you are a bit dehydrated?

Good morning. We're heading to my sister's today to pick up mail, do laundry and have a visit. My sister and her husband are our safe people and bubble. I'm so thankful for the use of her laundry facilities. Laundromats are of course open here. It feels safer and cleaner to use private resources.

I just heard from the hospital in Victoria. My doctor's appointment has been shifted by a day. The doctor I was supposed to see has moved back (or is moving back) to Ontario. I will now be meeting with another doctor who does locum work. My doctor is taking a sabbatical to do research for six months.

Normally potassium is ok although it has been low before. It was low early 2020 but I could at least make sense of that recovering from the biopsy, gi system was off, would sweat a lot from minor activity etc.

Didn't try the other arm, good idea although a little finicky with the automatic bp machine myself.
I've always had issues drinking enough water, but yesterday wasn't any worse than usual if anything I was a bit more hydrated than typical.

It is always tricky changing doctors. Hopefully you will like the new person

The new person is only temporary so it's not very important. I was a little nervous about the other doctor because of a couple things I'd heard about him. I haven't heard anything about this guy so am going in with an open mind. This cancer centre is topnotch. All the doctors/professionals are excellent so that helps.

Hoping you are feeling a little better today @ChemGal. @Northwind - glad you have regular 'laundry day' visits with your sis :-) Hoping she has recovered well from her stroke - was that last year or longer ago? I can't keep of dates recently - I think the loss of usual time markers/events in the year due to pandemic is the main source of that. Do others find that too?

Was a stormy rainy morning here - so I've been baking & prepping some dough - time to replenish supplies in the freezer! One loaf (pain de meie sandwich loaf) will bake later today, the other dough (for sourdough baguettes) will spend the night in the fridge & be baked tomorrow.

Last evening, as I was knitting, I listened to another of Brene Brown's leadership podcasts, this one with Michael Bungay Stanier - very interesting to me. Focused mainly on staying curious through using coaching questions and avoiding the 'advice traps' in communication.

Got my COVID shot today, which was good.

Have a bit of a hilarious problem, that I'm not sure what to do about.

So, I get mice in my house. I have sort of a handle on the holes, and I keep some of them bunged up, but it's been going on, to some extent, for the life of this home. My basic solution is to have a live trap, when it catches a mouse, dump it out away from the house. I'm always on little "trips", to the church, to work, to the beach, to the trail, etc., so the mice get distributed away from the house, because otherwise, they just run right back in, frankly. My daughter and I used to joke about painting their tails with nail varnish to catch the repeat offenders.

So today, caught a mouse. Took Lucy down to the beach for a swim; before we get out of the car in the parking lot, I open the door, pop the trap, the mouse leaps - in the wrong direction - back in the car! So, I now have a mouse in the car. I can only hope there's a hole it can get out; there's nothing to eat in there except dog hair and sand. I can't leave the door open for fear of draining the battery...

That is funny. Maybe leave the windows down?

we get mice too. Log house. Not a lot you can do but we do have pest control come. They put out bait traps.

our funny story. We had a lot of mice this fall. Had to bleach the kitchen counter every morning. Little mice droppings everywhere. The food was all away, just couldn’t figure out what they were after.

one morning I see dog nosing around under cushions on the couch. Lift cushions and there must have been a pound of dog food hidden away. They had chewed through the new bag of dog food. Big pieces. About the size of a nickel. I was pretty impressed they could move so much of it. Checked all the chairs and there was dog food hidden all over. Put on my winter boots later that month, dog food in the boots

i would leave window down. You sure don’t want the mice chewing wires in your car
