Seems to me the "waves" are purely man made by stopping "lockdowns" or whatever name anyone wants to use, too prematurely.
To me, as far as the virus ramping up it's game is concerned, I think we're in the middle of a second onslaught.
Plus some other factors, like school starting up after the summer, along with weather changes - colder and people are inside more. I'm hoping that even though the cases are climbing, the warmer weather that is coming will help keep them in check while vaccination occurs.

I wish that Health departments would give some useful information in their reports. Knowing there are 'this' many infections in an area doesn't really indicate how bad the situation is. In order to compare we need the rates per capita. 78 in one area may actually be less scary than 20 in another when compared per capita. What is the population that contains 78 cases - more or less than my area of 15,000 with 75 cases?.

To be clear,.that is 78 new cases in one day. We currently have 430 active cases for a population of a little over half a million.

Both are given here. I don't pay close attention to regions within other provinces, are most not doing that?

Latest Ontario figures from our COVID advisory panel are dire. I do suspect that they are playing things up a bit to try to get the attention of the big oaf who is supposed to be taking their advice, but even accounting for that, it's bad. And I am probably at least a month away from getting a jab still.

This does sound pretty bad.....time to go into the "black zone", close Walmarts, Cosco's, airports and travel between cities. (redefine non essential). Time for us all to suck it up and get this thing under control once and for all, IMO!
Seeing the younger crowd getting seriously ill is ominous.....still wonder if the top down approach hasn't set the young ones up for the virus to start jumping all over them. Thinking it might be a good time to revisit that thinking too. Probably a good idea to get Toronto and the Golden Horseshoe in Ontario fully vaccinated including young people and then go to smaller cities and towns.......but who am I? certainly not a "top doctor".

And the younger crowd are the most mobile, and have the most contacts.

Daughter works in a UPS store. Manager is her best friend's Mom, co-worker is best friend, who also works at a Casino, when it's open, and has four children, in two different schools. She's moving this weekend, from a house with two other guys, to a different house, with two different guys. She'll use my car, with the best friend's hubby (who has contacts of his own) to help move.

I'd just like to point out how many contacts this is, even if some are masked. And the whole thing is sort of legal.

so now we are scrambling with new variants, new surges of cases, no end in sight and still no f...ing vaccines other than the few that are being doled out like it’s crack. What a total disaster

and yet our boy Justin is still rolling along without taking the blame. Amazing.

The plague is upon us and still the freedom is there to deny reality ... thus we drift into virtue ... truly beyond cognizance!

Locally, the issue is not lack of vaccines. It is folks not registering. Toronto has indicated the same issue

I wish that was the problem here. I want to book an appointment yet can't because I haven't received my "invitation" letter in the mail. The government only mailed them in the middle of last week. We are eligible to book as of yesterday......if we have the letter.

London is booked solid until April 13 per a Tweet this morning. So doesn't seem to be a problem here. That said, we don't use the province's booking system. MLHU has their own system.

Toronto is saying they are not fully booked. So my kids tried to get on a standby list but that isn’t happening. In Toronto I wonder how much is related to English not a first language, computer issues, and apparently the 500,000 undocumented workers who are afraid of exposure. There was an article the other day saying you don’t need to show a health card but I sure did. And you still need some sort of photo ID so they can contact you. And if I was here illegally on an expired visa I would be reluctant too

Not the problem here. Some pharmacies did move onto phases earlier because of seniors not booking, but they aren't wasting vaccine. they just moved to the next group My Dad (phase 2A) booked his first day, I can't remember his day, that phase opened March 15 but he used the provincial online system, so I forget when his birth year opened up, he was the last of the booking to open for that phase, he was unaware of the capability to book early via pharmacy before phase 2A opened and by the time he did know he figured it wasn't going to get him in any earlier via pharmacy. Originally he had an appointment mid April, he did get it upped to this Friday.

I wonder how they deal with cancelled appointments, the issue of unknown number of doses per vial, etc. without standby? That was a question I was asked when getting on lists - if I would likely be able to show up if I had an hour's notice. If yes, can be on the standby list in addition to getting an appointment when it's appropriate to slot me in.

London's medical officer said that they start calling future bookings to see if they can come in if there's going to be doses left at end of day. Basically use future bookings as the standby list.
