Sitting in cold but clear Northern Ontario...hoping that the snowstorm east and southeast of here does not devastate too much. Today...I will attend choir practice to prepare for our Christmas Eve service next week, which will be on-line. I look forward all week to this little outing. Yesterday our church was a depot for the local Christmas Cheer givings. I went but they had too much help (nice problem!) so I did a bit of work, and then went home. Still tutoring the young fellow: Yesterday, he had a hard time focusing and sitting until I made up a game where I was trying to trick him. Of course, he was untrickable (and learning his Jolly Phonics actions besides!). Also saw a rheumatologist yesterday...a very young doctor...who reviewed all of my most recent x-rays and blood tests to date. He is the third doctor I've seen and the only one who told me the results. He was surprised! And when I left, he said how nice it was to have met me! I felt the same. I probably remind him of his mother...He is about my oldest son's age.
Hopefully those sessions with you help him hone is focusing skills, it helps to have a fun way to practice them!

Chemguy had to work a few days out of town, hotels really want business! He was in a decent-sized city for his overnight stay. He go a free room upgrade plus a little package including a 'rum and coke' - a can of coke and a mini bottle of crown royal - that's a first!

But ... that's a Crown and Coke. Crown Royal is whiskey, not rum. I know. My uncle worked for Seagrams. And Crown Royal bags were perfect for carrying collections of D&D dice and figures around. :nerd:

Yeah, wasn't sure what the hiball name was, I think people tend to use rum and coke for both? Or do I need to go with the brand? Ie. Crown and Coke, Jack and Coke, etc?

I just went with Crown and Coke to parallel Jack and Coke. I am not really sure what the convention is for whiskey and cola. I prefer my whiskey neat or on the rocks and would not normally mix it.

Not a whiskey fan unless it's mixed. I cannot tell a good whiskey from a bad one. They all taste bad straight up. I had a little bottle of whiskey once and, because I had no rum - put it with eggnog and I couldn't tell the difference with the little amount - just a splash - that I normally put in, if I put booze in at all.

We're enjoying a sunny spring winter day here. A few of us enjoyed a 6K walk. We were going to go yesterday and postponed it to today. It was an arkworthy rain yesterday

It was always known in my circles as "rye and coke". I don't drink much hard liquor at all, but were I to have a "whiskey" it would be a second malt, maybe on the rocks, maybe straight up.
I don't normally drink any alcohol any more, but have a fondness for single malt scotch and whiskey in general.

Christmas morning is fine.

I worked in a department for many years that incorporated the hospitality programs; importantly, the dining room. Christmas Eve morning, Susie H. always put on a fresh pot of coffee at about 11 a.m., and provided Bailey's for spiking said coffee; Sue L provided her famous shortbreads, then we all left (Christmas Eve was always a half day).

Blue Christmas service tonight. Started off annoyed, as I had been asked to do the slides, then informed when I dashed over there at 6:25 that "K" was doing slides ("K" does this to me with monotonous regularity). But then, I went home, poured a glass of wine, had a nice cry or four watching it on-line. And I didn't have to wear a mask and I could sing along.

Oh, and because flexible is always good, the sister and I have decided I will drive to her house to make and eat Christmas dinner together. Although this does preclude wine with meal, it does suspend my worries about house cleaning and decorating, so it's a win-win. I'll find a de-alcoholized bubbly... And if the damned tree gets put up, it will be totally voluntary.

The only drawback to this plan is, of course, weather. She's a hard 45 minute drive north, and it's not all highway. So, I've told her to make a back up plan, because turkey, potatoes, gravy, cranberries, roasted beets, buns and dessert are on my list, so I'll be fine. With stuffing, brussels, and salad on her list, her dinner might get cut short by weather.

Good morning, world! The coffee us ready and the water is hot. I took the liberty of borrowing a few bottles from the Wonderbar. Enjoy, and decorate your hot beverage in any way that seems fitting to you.

Yup, rye & coke.
Those blue bags were often part of the Christmas gifts that dad would get from construction companies.
I used them for marbles!

@Mrs.Anteater - hope your sister heals well.

Thanks for the coffee. sorry i'm late. my notifications are off again, wierd.

What a gorgeous day. Cold, sunny, lovely snow in the ground. Almost makes me forget Covid

rye and coke. Doesn’t that just take me back to high school and sneaking drinks

loved those blue bags. Still have some around

Snowstorm did a good timing, I could shovel last night and it only snowed a few centimetres since. Nice to have it all white, but it won’t last.
As of today, we have to wear shields additionally to masks ( they already had been doing this in Halifax, it just came a bit later outside). Staff is joking about “ Dark Vader outfit”. A new experience. But now voices are really muffled with that. Not just a problem for me with my two hearing aids.

Not much snow here. Maybe a cm tops. Just enough make everything pretty and white.

I had a "yes, you really do work in health care" moment. Someone emailed me to postpone a call because they were doing an emergency trach change.
