People are asymptomatic with the flu though too. It’s an interesting thought though. People who are asymptomatic. When you get the flu shot they want to ensure you are well

Yes and if you do have symptoms you would receive an antiviral like Tamiflu instead of the flu shot...which basically shortens your symptoms by one day if started within 24 hours of symptoms. Also Tamiflu has its own adverse affects too. It’s an interesting thought though. People who are asymptomatic. When you get the flu shot they want to ensure you are well
On another note rabies and tetanus are not a corona virus are they? Wouldnt a Covid vaccine be more similar to a coronavirus vaccine scenario? Not exactly but similar?Ideally, without testing how pre-symptomatic individuals do with the vaccine it would at least be ideal to test to at least know who had the virus to at least get that data. Other than suspected exposures though I don't think that will happen.
We do give vaccines as post-exposure treatment - rabies, tetanus come to mind, there are likely others. So it's possible it could still help.
Which may possibly contribute to a flu vaccines effectiveness rate in the elderly?People are asymptomatic with the flu though too.
Yes, but I'm not aware of any studies done with any coronavirus vaccines regarding post-exposure. Doesn't mean there aren't any, but I would guess probably just small sample sizes/animals if so.On another note rabies and tetanus are not a corona virus are they? Sure, with flu being seasonal that cuts it down a bit. Previous flu strains that went around can be a factor too.Which may possibly contribute to a flu vaccines effectiveness rate in the elderly?
PSWs are going to be one of the top priorities from what I heard. I don't agree with making those who go to bars a high priority. Fine those not following guidelines is my opinion - exceptions to people like those with dementia wandering or something.i wonder if the priority should be those who are NOT practicing good covid social distancing.
Give it to those who are at the bars -- you want to come into the bar -- get your vaccine.
Give it to those who live in large households that work in the service industry -- higher probability of exposure and spread
Give it to PSWs who work in long term care or seniors homes .
Get the numbers down by vaccinating the populations that are getting it more frequently
There have been no trials of any of the vaccines for children.....some are just starting that now.
Not sure how you recruit kids for something like this....parent's permission only or do the children themselves have to agree.
The regular flu shot that we are all familiar with, has an efficacy rate of 45% for 2020, and of course many people don't get the vaccine. The flu vaccine has not performed well over the last 30 years for the elderly.@BetteTheRed , no vaccine is 100% . In addition, there will be a period when only some people will be vaccinated.
Given that, I can see that the knowledge of "have you been vaccinated yet", will become an important part of group gatherings.
Good points.Part of the army being involved in vaccine distribution is logistics.
You have a full force that is able to handle the transportation, security, crowd control.
You also have trained medical professionals and those who are able to handle admininistration, and so on.
I'd much rather use them as an addition to standard groups, then I would pulling people from active health care roles
I seem to recall reading years ago about third world countries being used as "testing" grounds for new vaccines .....but I can't seem to find any of those articles, have you ever heard of that or anyone? And the UK has become the first Western country to pull the trigger on a vaccine. Pfizer has received emergency use authorization there.

Not sure, but other vaccines have been tested in children at some point so the protocols must exist both for the companies and the regulators. It needs to be done and done soon, though. Else children become a reservoir where it can hide and mutate, or someone I read suggested.

Have we had to pull people from health care roles for the regular flu shot?I'd much rather use them as an addition to standard groups, then I would pulling people from active health care roles
