So - I looked it up - my new learning for today! So interesting - the trees bloom only when there has been a drought in the prior summer, and apparently they give off a lovely scent. This is a really interesting website - Arbutus flower Oh so sweet .... You perfume the air, Oh what a treat!

there's a new hornet that hitched a ride here from Asia, that apparently has a bad sting. I don't think I've crossed paths with one yet.)

I find with my scooter, and plenty of time, I'm really slowing down to appreciate the sights I see. Small but pretty little crops of various blooms and greenery that catches my eye.
Fortunately (I think), we don't have praying mantises here (that I know of).
I've never seen one in RL - I think I'd freak right out if I did! They're not on the coast, more inland. Apparently someone found one out of place up-island a few years ago,though. So maybe there are more now, unless it was alone and had no babies. (I only skimmed this Parksville news article)

). It's a tourist attraction I am not one bit interested in visiting! But a friend of the family worked there as a summer job in the past, and she said it was busy - also, lots of school field trips went there.
