No sign of the mouse last night. I haven't gone into the livingroom yet to see the state of the traps......

And good morning all! I am home again after a good visit with my dear old dad. Slow start to my day, (thanks for the coffee helper Redbaron!) and soon off to check my neighbourhood gardens etc. Things seem to be growing quickly this summer!!

Things seem to be growing quickly this summer!!

Ditto. Must be the generally wet weather. I remember having near-drought conditions the first few years I was in the house, esp. the lawn. This year, I have to cut weekly whereas back then, I was down to every other week or less some summers. Plants (both wanted and unwanted) are doing quite well, too.

Well I think I'm going to come into the room and sit for awhile. I've been going through a rough patch for awhile. I had a mild heart attack in June and was in the hospital for 4 days around Mother's Day. A blockage was found in my heart and last week I had two coronary stents inserted, apparently my veins(arteries) are small and it was an excrutiatingly painful procedure (for me anyway) They had to try both arms before they got it in, so I have very deep purple bruises from both of my wrists up to my shoulders. They cover most of my arms and are very painful even a week later. Haven't been able to sleep much at all....feels like someone gnawing inside my arms and lightening bolts.
Ahhh, this recliner feels good and the smell of coffee is soothing.

Vibes, @Waterfall. My boss had a similar experience minus, AFAIK, the bruising problems. His heart attack happened the day before they left on a cruise. Symptoms were apparently mild but he has the good fortune to be married to a nurse, who realized what was happening.

Weird factoid: I am the only married person in the IT team (me, my boss, my three staff) not married to a nurse.

My symptoms seemed mild also, so I walked into emerg saying I'm not sure if I'm having an anxiety attack or heart problems....but they ran blood tests and detected the protein complex troponin, which is made exclusively in the heart and skeletal muscle cells, and it had been released. It's sudden release into the bloodstream signals damage to the heart muscle.
Interesting right? I might have brushed the symptoms off and not gone into emerg and had the blood test, and taken it seriously and never knew I had a blocked artery.
Women really do often present heart attacks (MI) differently than men......grateful I was taken seriously.
Thankyou for you kind vibes.

Imagine the small bloody things to be detected to tell you you sick! Be well!

Some doctors don't believe in little things ... nor the expressions people say when not feeling well. Talked to an old fellow today with kidney problems that were overlooked rather than overseen ... leaving us with things we don't know about! What is unknown is extensive it appears!

My goodness Waterfall - sorry to hear about all that nasty bruising - must be SO uncomfortable. Glad you got yourself to ER tho - it's often a question isn't it - anxiety, heartburn, MI?? Of course we want it to be the first two .... but I'm so glad that MI is now 'easily' treated in many cases. A prior minister of ours also had a similar episode - had not been feeling well for a day or two, decided to 'just stop by' ER on the way to work one day ... got 3 stents!! Hopefully you have some help around the house, and somebody to fluff your pillows and make food for you for a while ... and a good stack of summer reading on your table!

Hello fellow WC2 ers. I went to Berwick United church camp tonight for the evening service which was very refreshing and afterwards I met David Giuliano, who is leading the morning theology for the day sessions ( which I unfortunately cannot attend due to work.) I asked him if I can greet you all from him, and he said , please do.
I have never met him before and was happy to be able to tell him how his blog on WC has made UCC moderators approachable to me.
He said he had been on facebook at times ( but didn’t seem too impressed with social media) and is now retired- and I am sure he has better things to do in RL.

I'm sorry to hear of your health concerns @Waterfall. I'm glad you went to get it checked. Heal well and smoothly. Enjoy some good reading and gentle walks.

I'll sit here for awhile and see if I can finish this sock tonight.

Good morning! Hot bevs are ready for you. Maybe a few muffins as well. Enjoy.

Yogurt and fresh raspberries - sliced bananas – to go with your muffins.
The sun is shining here, and it's a bit cooler since last night's thunderstorm.
Schedule for today for me – get B12 shot at doctor's office.

I read his book and have since bought it for various people to read. I will meet him in October as his daughter is marrying my nephew! She is a lovely young person.

I have been making weekly visits out to our church camp. I am resigning from our camp Board of Directors at the end of September. But I am happy, happy to be part of it this summer. Of the three summers of my involvement, this is definitely the best -- Great staff, a variety of chaplains with a variety of skills, and better supervision/help from the Board. It is a wonderfully happy place, and I smile from ear to ear on each visit. I am resigning because my life has got so busy (added babysitting and a part time job to the mix since I first became a Board member) and this has been a huge time commitment. But I am also resigning because I am a team player and a communicator, and there are aspects of this Board that have worked against those aspirations. I am thinking that there is a personality conflict between me and one other person, and that the Board might be better off without me. But, as my swan song, I am happy that all the work I did in hiring and communicating is paying off.

I have been reading David Guiliano's book that is his reflections on his cancer journey. I found it very helpful at the beginning and have set it down. It is calling me again. I need to pick it back up.

I've brought a knitted blanket to leave here on the chair. I hope it is a source of comfort for someone. Consider it a prayer blanket.

Overnight oats - I should have tried these a long time ago!
I hate plain oatmeal. I like the flavoured instant packs. I've tried flavouring plain after the fact and it takes soooo much sugary stuff to make it taste reasonably good, and still isn't as good as the preflavoured stuff IMO.

I've been curious about overnight oats for a while, but have just haven't gotten around to it this week. I did cashew/coconut milk, I think it was almond butter and agave.
Not sure I would want to go without some kind of butter - peanut, nut or seed.
It was too liquidy for me too, can certainly reduce the 2:1 ratio of liquid to oats. Can also really go down on the sweetness, but considering my dislike of plain oats I decided to start generous with the agave.

Chemguy thinks the whole thing is gross. We're both add as little water as possible to the instant packs (he even uses less than I do, and I thought I was at the minimum, he has some dried bits in his). He also thinks it should only be hot. Fingers crossed that once I get the ratio just right I can throw some nutella in too and convince him to at least taste it (possibly after microwaving as well).
