True, Seeler, much nicer, now. I had a nice paddle with junior yesterday on a large lake with rocky islands, planty shores with baby fish schools and big fish jumping a foot out of the water to catch dragon flies. Picked thirteen pounds of blueberries after that.

The good news is there will be "room for all" this soon. The storage locker is empty. The car and truck are not overloaded. We are ready to roll after church today.

I like to see September come round. In many ways it is starting again – the end of holidays and vacation trips, the start of school

Sounds about right. Got Little M moved into his 2nd year residence yesterday. Just got to do some shopping for him today and then we can do the drive home.

Fall and new beginnings always resonate with me. That is why working for a school board fits so well (and what can I say I do love the summers work free) And so on Tues back to the job that I enjoy, that does make a difference, and that pays me decently so I can not work in the summer.

The growing season is ending too early, especially considering we never had any spring weather :(
Did lots of fried green tomatoes already, I think I may need to do some green tomato dishes that are freezer friendly too.

I don't like flies.

Is anyone else finding that they have more flies in the house in the last few weeks?
To top it off, i put lotion on and I think that they are attracted to it.

minor annoyance, i know. just random thought on a sunday afternoon.

It's that time of year. They're bad in the grocery store as well.

We are having a mouse problem.
Landlord sent an exterminator over who put poison bait down but I do not like finding dead mice on my floor.

Yuk - that's no fun! We had a significant rat problem out in our detatched garage in the spring ... seems they found it to be a cozy spot to reside over the winter. Lots of trapping, clearing stuff out of the garage etc. etc. and we got it sorted out ... we think!

Been dealing with fruit flies most of the month. Came from strawberries we grow went past their prime while we were away, not sure why Chemguy brought them in the house. We had reduced them down quite a bit but had raspberries that were over ripe, those we washed and set out for half a day then chucked due to mold and before the garbage went out we had a ton flying out of the garbage again :(
I've been catching them in the dustbuster, I think they make their way out again. I keep asking Chemguy to empty that outside, I really need to push a bit more on that as with the smoke issues emptying a vacuum isn't the best thing for me to be doing.

Labor Day holiday – what to do? What to do? – Nothing scheduled or planned. Perhaps I'll persuade similar to go down to the exhibition with me, if it doesn't rain (30 chance} and it's not too muggy. It opens today and the displays of fruit and vegetables, baked goods and crafts should still be fresh and attractive. I have a friend who often submits samples of her baking in the cooking contest and usually wins. I also like I also like to wander through the barns and see the prize-winning draft horses, pigs and calves.

Lo' RD 've the flies? O I've left the surly bonds ... a new category ... Kant spoke of it as categorical ... creates BUZZ!

We've had good luck trapping fruit flies whenever we've had an outbreak. Take a small jar or bowl, put some yummy fruit (like your raspberries!) into it with a tiny bit of water. Cover the top tightly with plastic wrap. Poke a few VERY small holes in the top - the flies find their way in but can't get out again. When you have a bunch in there (after a day or two) - TAKE IT OUTSIDE and then discard the contents. I once did not think to take it outside (DOH!) and the kitchen was once again swarmed!!

As for Labour Day - hot and humid here - getting cloudy now - perhaps some rain? The garden under the trees is again very dry ... I even watered last evening as things were looking so wilty. Getting together with neighbours this evening for a BBQ which will be nice.

Tomorrow is 'back to school' - and I'm feeling for all the teachers & students - the high humidex readings are forecast to continue (38 - 42 degrees!) - horrible to be stuck in an un-airconditionned classroom with a gaggle of excited kids in such temperatures. My mate is heading northward for a few days fun with retired teacher buddies who usually gather for the "to hell with the bell" celebration :-)

I've been doing the wine/balsamic vinegar with some dish soap. It's been catching quite a few, but I also find they like to just hang out on the edge of the container which is where the vacuum works well.
I had tried some fruit tossed in originally with the plastic wrap, but these ones don't seem to be crawlers.

Today I'm going out to an indoor playground for the morning. Will be picking all the tomatoes due to hold cold it's getting tonight. Think I might need to cover the squash too, I don't want to have to pick those already.

….some baking, laundry and maybe lawn mowing....That's my Labour Day...and loving it. We may go to Michigan to visit with grandson before he starts school. We would meet up in a mall, and although we seldom buy anything in the States, we are desperate for a new clock. So we might take a look. Our old one (wedding gift) can't be fixed by my husband, the repairman extraordinaire. And both of us keep looking at the blank spot in the wall and get annoyed when we don't see the time!

and yes tomorrow I am back at school for work, students come for a 1/2 day Wed.
Today-finishing the backing for a quilt top and some cooking. I bought some fruit and veggies and need to freeze some.
