Good service on "waiting" and then part 2 of our annual meeting where we celebrated only having a small budget deficit last year and passed this year's budget.

Nutmeg our SIL and I are at the Church onna Hill (challenging 2 mobility impaired I'm sure...) gonna lissen to our good friend break a lip (sing). That wood is CEDAR and yes, it smells GLORIOUS. Or maybe its the glue lol

Also yesterday Nutmeg our SIL and I got to go to the Land of Ports to join in on the LRH Birthday Extravaganza.

Which I described to a survey taker as a tent revival for Scientologists.

Lots of energy. Lots of cheering. Many rooms. Simulcast Celebration from multiple Churches around the world. Got to experience some social norms from the outside (which I find so exciting). Found out a new centre near Johannesburg has been built.

Found out they seem to have some sort of global contest with some kind of metric (points?) in growing a Church.

Also good Scientologist coffee and water. I felt more rational merely by drinking it :p Everything was so clean. The bathroom I tried out didn't stink. I nary detected the smell of mold and dust.

We also went to the Sat Market (which I reccommend to anyone going to the Land of Ports).

And for my fellow book lovers, go here before or in addition to going to Powellz

Inside this Temple are books. Books and more books and magazines and and and. Used bookstore.

For those who love head caps (otherwise known as hats) there is The Haberdashery near Cameron's Books. Delightful staff. Hats of varying designs and status/class and extravagance.

And for those of us whose spirit includes our equine cousins, again, in the same area

Every time I walk in here I breathe deep the smell of leather and saddle soap...mmmmmmm. So comforting.

A small group of us (4-8) go out for lunch each week after worship. Today I invited along a couple of people who aren't in our regular group. I often feel sorry for leaving people out

Nah, because the Rev wandered around during coffee time and scooped a few other people she thought might be interested...I added a table and cloth, retrieved a few extra chairs; fortunately, Jack had made us a big pot of soup...
 
Everyone, even if you don't gather with a church regularly, you should do so today. Because, hey, free palms.
 
Today, we're having a congregational potluck lunch. Promised I'd get there early with my curried potatoes and make coffee/tea, set out dishes, receive contributions, etc.; will have to get out of my bathrobe soonest to do that... Apparently we're being treated to something thespian today, in addition to palms. When I called the Rev yesterday to consult about the Seder Dinner #s, she was just on her way back from the church after "rehearsing"...

Why are you having a Seder Dinner at church?

The potluck lunch sounds yummy.

One of the highlights of our worship service will be a performance by our choir.
 
When buying the palms, I would ask "Did the people who picked these get a fair wage?"

What do you think the answer was? It was always the same even though the people who answered never

knew why I was asking.
 
We have a Maundy Thursday service every year, followed by a Seder dinner, to commemorate Jesus' "last supper". We had a discussion about this last week with our visiting Rabbi (framed as a question about whether we were 'guilty' of cultural appropriation). He thought not, as Jesus was a Jew, and encouraged us to research some alternate Seder scripts than the familiar Haggadah we use every year.

Lovely service today. Long-ish skit with the youth doing various "tableaus" of scenes from Holy Week. Narrated by a couple of our most talented thespians under the guise of an anchor and two reporters from the "Jerusalem News".
