He regularly forgets where he is. Some times more than others. He woke up from sleep and had no idea how he got where he was

Okay, thanks, just wondering in light of sometimes those calls are legit. Glad your father is safe.
 
Yup- there are times when laughter and tears are so close to each other. Sometimes it is only by maintaining a sense of humour that we can find the strength to carry on doing what we have to do. Your responses to the situation with your dad impress me (((((Pinga))))).

Glad the staff were able to settle your Dad's situation. Sigh. And glad you had such a positive response from police :) I wonder what percentage of 911 calls are of similar nature.

I've thought about it when in the emergency room and not being given meds.
That was before I knew what other options I had.
 
One of the scariest moments of my life was being in early labour and bleeding. We called a taxi and I went to hospital and my then partner stayed with the 2 kids. Taxi dropped me off at emergency door and I went in. Place was deserted. (Thiis wass the hospital I also worked part time at). I hoisted myself onto the staff stool and dialed the extension number for "Emerg". It was answered with a voice saying "Emergency-how can we help you?" and me saying "Where the heck are you? I'm in Emerg and need help"

If there is ever a next time I would call before leaving home and maybe call an ambulance instead of taxi.

Baby was stillborn-but not as a result of this. Labour stopped-I stayed in overnight, , my then partner dropped kids at daycare and came in next morning and later that day I delivered but babe was underdeveloped even for his just 20 weeks. There was no heartbeat that night so we really knew what to expect.

Sorry for the downer-that story just came up reading about Emerg. It was 23 years ago, before I had my youngest.
 
Ooo Tabitha ... tragic story. Interesting how these things from long ago pop into our minds unbidden. Hugs to you.
 
Tabitha I can't even imagine an unstaffed emergency room! They tend to be overcrowded at times, but there's always at least *someone* whenever I have gone. Once it was just to ask where the bathroom was on a road with the urgent need (didn't want to stick around for meds for the UTI, went to my own doctor).
 
Always stories on the down side regardless of what the confident will deny because of their actions ... always wishing Smoor!

Allows a pit place for the thoughts to rise from ... into the mortal Mob Complex ... po' social skills ...
 
I must be on an EMERG theme. Dad is in one right now. He was to be here (with mom) for a visit but that was postponed when he got pneumonia. Chest pains last night led to an ambulance call (hurrah-instead of mom driving him) and off the 1/2 k to local hospital. Determined that pain was lower than chest and off to next city. Diagnosis Diverticulitis, and tratable. Given his age they kept him in overnight back at local hospital-but no beds just in EMERG. It's musch easier on Mom as when Dad is not well he is very confused and can and will mix up meds etc.
 
Not an 'emerg' comment, but a doctor's appointment comment: A few years ago, I had Shingles for the second time. My doctor said that I was immune for awhile, but to get the vaccination in January 2018. Surprisingly I remembered! But I'm having difficulty getting through to make a doctor's appointment. I've tried a few times. Will try again today. Sure hope I don't get Shingles in the meantime!
 
Keep as unstressed as possible, Nancy. That often seems to be a trigger. But I share with you your urge NEVER to get shingles again. My patch was on a nerve running across my mid-back, and for weeks it honestly felt like there was a rodent trying to chew its way out of my rib cage.
 
So tired today. Woke up with a big headache. Advil has helped, though not entirely. Feel I need a long nap, but I have homework. I feel it was just too much socializing Sunday and yesterday. Tonight calls for a restorative night in.

I had a brutal headache a week or two ago though I was less sure of the cause. Likely sleep disturbances. I have been having those a lot recently. A night in definitely sounds like a plan though. I find the really bad headaches don't usually respond well to either acetaminophen or ibuprofen.

Mine has gotten better through Advl and a good rest that I just woke up from. Unlike a lot of people, Tylnl does nothing for me. Adorn works, though it can upset the belly.
 
I took today off, got paperwork done and notarized to start my application for dual citizenship ( 20 years in Canada now) and then drove into Halifax to my favorite place- IKEA, to buy a bed for my spare room,so I can have guests over. Didn’t get the mattresses yet, because my Mazda could only handle the bed and my Costco purchase ( I buy for some neighbours, too). Halifax is an hour away fom home, so its always a special outing.
