Hey, Tabitha . . . what a challenging time for you . . . caring thoughts are with you and your family. I hope you receive some contact from your child, in some way, soon.

My daughter is still here at home with me . . . still snuffling and sniffling . . . she will probably go home tomorrow. She may or may not go to work tomorrow, we shall see. She is getting bored, so I know she is feeling better, but she is still weak.

Tabitha - there is no way to express what I feel for you right now. I've felt your concern for this child as I've followed you on the Original WonderCafe and now here, as well as when I met you. This must be a terrible shock.
But rejoice, you child is alive. Your child is still attending school. Eventually, I hope, that your child will sort out who they are and how to live their life, and then contact you.
Have you spoken with Rita TG about this?

Hi Everyone - I haven't been posting much lately. Busy and stressed about finalizing my novel. Yesterday, my techies and I approved the final draft. Every comma, spelling, formatting error corrected. It looks great. As near perfect as we could make it.
So, look on Amazon. It's there! "Ship's Boy in the Arctic: Survivor" by Elizabeth Savoie.
Dark cover of northern lights, an inukshuk, and white print!
I can relax for the next few days. Then 200 hard copies should arrive at the border for pick-up, and I will have to start promotion.

Thanks for pointing that out Mendalla. It was published in the States. I just presumed that it would be available at their Canadian site. I will inquire. Meanwhile, I hope, Canadians can order it through Amazon.com (US store).

Chemgal, at present it is not available as an e-book. I had hoped it would be, but apparently the technical requirements for submission are away above my skills, and I don't want to ask my techie to do any more right now. He and his wife have gone far and above the call of friendship to help make this book as professional looking and grammatically perfect as possible. There is a limit to how much I can ask. Meanwhile I appreciate each and everyone who buys a book through Amazon.com

Good morning everyone!

I am definitely going to try and buy the book, seeler. Looking forward to it.

I'm not really an on-line shopper - I have purchased some items on-line though. I still worry about putting my credit card out there like that, but I have used it a few times.

Yesterday I ordered two dvd's online that I haven't been able to purchase in the stores. I was on the amazon.ca (Canadian) site and made an error, I was already in the paying process and couldn't go back and change it. So I finished that order and then went back to the order the next one. There was a spot where you could do a "quick" order within 30 minutes, so I clicked on that . . . and it immediately went through. But when I went and check my credit card information online it shows that the two dvds are being mailed from two different places. The first one from Canada, and the second one through the states, so the quick order must have gone through amazon. com (at least that is what I am guessing.)

Yesterday was a beautiful fall day here. I woke up this morning to the sound of a strong loud wind blowing outside. I hope it doesn't blow in any bad weather.

Going to grocery store, meet a friend for tea, take daughter to work, and come home and read and prepare for board meeting tonight. Have a sore throat . . . I think I've caught her cold (yuck!!!!!).

How about everyone else? A good day ahead of you? Things you are looking forward to doing? Things you don't really want to do?

Have a good one.

Hi folks.

Well, yesterday I found myself laughing (partially just cause if you dont' laugh you will cry, but also due to the joy of finding solutions).
I interviewed someone who could speak our language of security and risk. Huge bonus, and they are on the bench, so readily available. That makes 2 new people to onboard-- whoop
I had found someone who could be loaned to us from another team, and the politics of that is being worked out, and should just kick in...woot
The issue that I identified and flagged was agreed and supported by leaders, and concerns moved up the chain -- which is good, it means that our diligence is appropriate.
Another recommendation that I had sent up the chain a few months back was funded. Big money, lots of interesting challenges.
I also had to laugh and bang my head on my desk as I realized that I spent all of Tuesday in the wrong time zone on my computer. For those who travel, you know that means that any meeting you book is not what you may have made agreements on (they will be out by an hour). hah, good thing folks laughed about it in most cases...after scratching their head and sending reschedule notices.
Major juggling going on and long hours, but at least moving forward.

Heading off to another day.

My oldestson started his first day of work, in his not-career-yet job, but thankful to be working and building resume.

I've just formalized my vacation time in Boston, and looking forward to it!

The only issue is going to be that Canadians don't qualify for free shipping when they order from Amazon.com but do from Amazon.ca. We usually let our "wish list" build up until it's high enough to get the free shipping.

i am actually travelling to the US a bunch this year, so if anyone wants me to order one (and they are reasonably close), I would be happy to do so, and exchange over a holiday coffee.

That's ok, it just seems like many of the small publishers actually do e-book only, as it's cheaper.
I'll probably wait to hear if it will be available from the amazon.ca , so keep us updated. If it doesn't work out, I'll go to the .com site.

Pinga if you really deliver over a christmas drink I'm in!

Otherewise the border is a short drive away and I use a service that gives me a US address for $3 a parcel. Shiphappens has been very reliable for us.

They certainly make sick people jump through hoops it seems. Doctor's appointment - got stuck with a bunch of people reeking of 3rd hand smoke, hairspray and scented crap. Triggered a headache and I was having a prodrome but a walk outside before driving to the pharmacy seemed to stop it. Waited around the pharmacy for quite a while, trying to avoid scents there. I wanted to double check about an antibiotic to make sure it was safe for me, and when I mentioned my concerns she brought up my other medication, which I just switched to as it should be safer. She wasn't a pharmacist though, and I think she was mixing up two similar but different things. Got home to an email informing me that some of the medical plan insurance stuff that I though I had straightened up yesterday, isn't. Spent a while on the phone trying to get that fixed, it will have to wait until a manager is in. Then I got a call telling me my health program has been cancelled :( I waited many months for this one, while they seem to offer multiple diabetes ones all the time. This was semi-expected though, the session I went to this week was cancelled as I was the only one who showed up. I was hoping it was just because of Thanksgiving, but nope. There were 9 registered, who knows what happened other than the fact it was a bad location.

Sigh, the flip side is young ate developing or enhancing your advocacy and project management skills

Sorry it is so hard chemgal

Cup of tea offeted

Thanks Pinga, it's just been a bit of a tough week and this all seemed to pile up today. It's a short week at least, I'm looking forward to the weekend! I already had some tea, I think I'm going to watch some Netflix and maybe dose off for a while. Since my exercise program ended I haven't got into anything new, that will come next week, but maybe a walk tonight as long as I feel like an attack isn't likely.

I did take a detour on the drive home to check out a road that some people compared to the vegas strip for Halloween. Not a lot of decorations yet, but more on that street than anywhere else I've seen. A nice little break, even though it only took an extra minute driving home. I'll make Chemguy hand out candy on the 31st for a while so I can check it out then!

Oh, WEM = west edmonton mall

Pinga peeks into the room, seems everyone is still snoozing this morning.

Sets up as a barrista with espresso machine, and lots of fun items. The joy of wondercafe2 is that you will all know how ot make whatever beverage you like.
There is a selection of muffins, a special egg muffin, and a lovely yogurt parfait as well.

Sit, and enjoy a quiet moment at the table. i've left your favourite newspaper there as well.
There is your favourite era of music playing softley on the radio, just enough for you to hum along to, or smile when a favourite comes over the air.

have a delightful friday folks.

The music is welcome, pinga. Don't know what I've done to my house wi-fi (I think it's got something to do with installing hola...), but radio 2 remains stubbornly silent and except for the dog, it's a bit too quiet around here.

My sister and her husband are visiting from Ontario for a few days. We get along great. This afternoon though was my bowling day, so I went bowling and she went visiting friends. I got home first and have a few minutes.

At meal time we line up our pills. Two husbands taking medication for mild diabetes, plus a few other things. She taking pills for high blood pressure and arthritis and stomach complaints caused by her arthritis pills. Me with my blood pressure pills, crohns pills, and pills to control my tremor and other symptoms of Parkinstons. Yet we count ourselves lucky to be retired and in relative good health. Fifty years ago we wouldn't sitting around playing cards, or going out square dancing -- we've passed (or are closely approaching) our three score and ten.

And my daughter dropped in. She was on her way to pick up her medication that she has to self-inject every second week for the rest of her life for her crohns. And my sister's daughter is unemployed and barely coping with the stresses of living and providing for two of her children (a 12 year old and a boy in his 20s with Aspergers). She has had open heart surgery, arthritis, and fibermyalgia (her biggest problem).

Chemgal, I think of these two girls when you share your daily struggles. It must be difficult for you to cope each day.
