*sigh* 3pm and haven't left the bedroom yet. I should really get some food and drink into me. Decisions, do I make the effort and carry the laptop and cell with me so I don't need to come back up for them?

Yes take them with you!
Haha I did. Was draining though. Didn't make it back upstairs until Chemguy got home. Crashed on the couch for a while.
I'm fairly certain this is pneumonia. Since I wasn't sent for an xray, there's no real way to confirm. I do get all the bronchitis sounds and feeling when stuff loosens up before I clear it. Most of the time though I feel it deep in one lung.

Don't fool with it Chemgal. The doctor told me. Here is the medication. 2 first day. one for 5 days.
Sleep with phone near you if you are alone and don't hesitate to call an ambulance if you are in trouble.
Oh yes and constant oxygen.

drove Seelergirl to the hospital today. She got her cast removed, and a wire removed (planned removal, it had been left sticking out of her arm so it could be pulled out). Xray showed that it is healing well after five weeks.
But no cast!!!!! (little happy dance)
Still somewhat painful to move, and her arm felt naked and she told me it felt 'fragile', so she got it wrappedd in an elastic bandage. Physio perscribed; no driving yet; off work until January 8th.
Missed my bowling; but Seelergirl is worth it.

The problem is that the doctor hasn't taken this as serious. Similar to when I had issues in the summer and was hoping to get a nebulizer treatment when I went in.

Outwardly, it's hard for others to realize just how sick I feel. No cold, no wheezing most of the time. The doctor did confirm that listening to my lungs it sounded like I was having trouble filling them with air.

Sorry about your medical problems Chemgal. The more complex the condition the harder it must be for the medical people to coordinate their treatment but you are in the middle and they should realize that you have a pretty good idea of what is serious.
I hope that you feel better soon.

I'm actually babysitting tomorrow. We'll see how that goes. Doing it with Chemguy at least. As I have no cold symptoms and the cough is only related to whatever is in my lungs (no random dry coughing) I shouldn't be too contagious and will be careful about handwashing and stuff. I'm going to do some early Christmas gifts, including a Christmas colouring book, so that will involve sitting. I think I'm going to be doing more with the youngest otherwise and Chemguy with the toddler.

If I feel horrible tomorrow I might just stay home. I don't know how much my sister trusts Chemguy with both of them though, so it will mean them taking the baby for whatever they had planned.

Seelergirl and I were talking today about how lucky we are to live in Canada and to have medicare.
Saturday morning, early in October, she fell and broke her arm badly.
Trip to emergency department where she was seen immediately
Almost out of her mind in pain, treatment began -
Something for pain, clothing cut off, IV started, x-rays
Emergency room doctor set arm and put on temporary cast
She awakens feeling more comfortable
Seen by orthapedic surgeon who recommends surgery - taken to OR, has steel plate, and screws inserted in large bone which is shattered; wire holds small bone together. Because of swelling another temporary, large soft cast is put on.
Admitted for over night.
Goes home on Sunday.
Returns to orthapedic rooms at hospital the following week to have cast removed, staples removed, more xrays. Cast put on with instructions to return in five weeks.
Four weeks later, wire (which extends out of skin) is causing a great deal of pain. Goes to hospital. Cast removed, wire adjusted, new cast.

Five days later, wire again causing problems. Returns to hospital. Cast removed. Wire pulled out. xrays - arm is healing nicely
Elastic bandage - prescription for physio therapy. Follow-up appointment for mid-December. Notice for employer that she is not to return to work until January 6th.

Total cost for Seelergirl - Nothing - its covered by medicare

I shutter to think what would have happened it we lived a couple of klms west of here in another country.

chemgal I can self diagnosis my pneumonias by my sputum colour. Clear is ok yellow-I watch and is likely bronchitis. Green and it's pneumonia and treatment for me is antibiotic. Depending how I feel I may choose to treat bronchitis with antibiotic. With my asthma I am more susceptible to chest infections.

For this it was more location than anything that had me think pneumonia. It's basically not in my bronchioles until I've moved it up from my lungs. The colour is all over the place, clear, orange from blood, pink from blood, bright yellow, dark green.

The bleeding was first blamed on the coughing, but I was barely coughing at all to cause that. So then it was the cold air. I've never had cold air cause bleeding besides nasal passages, and it's not like I've been walking outside.

I'm doing as much self-treatment as possible.

Coughing hard enough to throw up (and maybe some of the force from that too) seems to have cleared my lung out. I can finally take a full breath for the first time in quite a while.
Chemguy tells me he doesn't think I actually threw up, I just inhaled pizza earlier and finally coughed that out

I'm hoping this means I just need to fully recover now, I guess time will tell if that part of my lung fills up with crud again or not.

You might want to look into postural drainage. It's what they do with kids with cystic fibrosis to help clear their lungs (and since you are such a special snowflake no drugs are involved). Basically lay with your hips on your bed and your chest and head over the side toward the floor. When you cough this way gravity helps the gunk come out. I used to hang like this with a box of kleenex for the sputum, and a book for 1/2 hour of so at a time.
As for coughing- I now use a dm cough medicine to enable sleep at night. Sucking inhibits coughing, It could be a cough candy, or a lifesaver or mint or a popsiscle or just sucking your drink through a straw. I also used to use a drop of euclyputus oil at the neck of my nightie.

Since some of your sputum is dark green head back to the doctor and show them.

I've been thinking it would be nice to have a bed where one side raises. That sounds doable.

My lungs still feel 'open' today. Still coughing up stuff, still with blood but being able to inhale fully makes a huge difference. I had mentioned the colour to the doctor before.

I did start antibiotics myself, my ENT writes me prescriptions that I can fill whenever I feel like I need them as I basically constantly have a bit of an infection. I waited a little bit after seeing the doctor but when the blood got worse (and I was feeling really horrible that day) that was it.

So today was a big day for me.
I wrote an exam that relies on a lot of my acquired knowledge, plus specific technical knowledge in areas that I don't normally work in.
I passed.
This pass is a personal breakthrough as I am afraid of exams. @Carolla made a comment on my facebook that was actually a godsend partway through the exam. Perfection isn't required. I moved past a question that I didn't know the answer to, rather than wasting precious moments.
It is also important professionally, as it is highly regarded in my field.
It is important to me personally, as I never got a degree, went into work, learned on the job, read, researched. This proves to me that I know my stuff. It is an independent validation of my knowledge.
It may also help me with some other areas involving travel to the US. Unsure.

Anyhow, end of a very long week of pushing through, driving for the test.

Congrats @Pinga !! That is so awesome! One really needs to change one's mindset for pass/fail exams, I find. You are so knowledgeable and a great communicator that it's proof that you don't always need a piece of paper (it opens doors for sure but you clearly are evidence that hard work and talent can carry one far). Way to go!
