How cool to see the "Happy Birthday" banner float across the screen. I'm having a quiet day...saw daughter and grandson off at the airport, but they are not stuck in Toronto. Daughter is going to Montreal for her interview to become a permanent resident of the U.S. I'm tidying some of the mountains of grandson's toys. Daughter says she won't be taking much when she moves across the border. Which means I need to get rid of some of the stuff.
 
Happy Birthday!! I really need to visit the Members tab more often to check the birthday section.

(Yes, my mother did that for birthdays sometimes instead of a regular cake)
 
I am going senile. I type things I don't mean to and the ability to edit is gone. My daughter and grandson are NOW stuck in Toronto; I wrote NOT previously. Worse, I sometimes say things I don't mean. Editing that is a little tough also.

Yes - we're under severe storm warning this afternoon - some biggies have been rumbling thru north of me - which is where the airport is. They won't load or unload planes when there is any lightning in the general area - hence lots of delays I imagine.

It kind of scooted past us. A bit of a storm early in the afternoon and then quiet since. Still a chance of showers but the severe storm watch has been lifted for London-Middlesex.
 
We had two big thunderstorm periods this afternoon. Neighbourhood collie friend of Lucy's decided that it was safe to go for a short walk between thunderstorms and he was right. Hail with the second one. Moved some tender seedlings, not yet planted, out of the way; got very wet!

Final meeting of 'my' Tuesday Night group until we start up again in the fall. Lovely potluck supper and some delightful yacking over dinner and desserts, and a lightly political TED talk, suggested by our Luce, actually.

Lucid communication with them over transparent behaviour of those loss leaders ... still in the dark of the stack ... some say Rheims of eM! Shady to say less ... as leaders like common people to be silent ... metaphorically forced to shut up? Tis a forensic condition stated by desire for non critical analysis ... thus the crisis of oppressed conceptions about the flaws ...

Provincial by-election tomorrow. I'm poll clerking for the first time. Interested in one particular candidate....I don't know much about him, but I'm thinking he will get quite a few votes. He legally changed is name to: Znoneofthe,Above form the None of the Above Party.
 
Had a pretty good day today, it was the hottest day in over a year but it didn't feel too uncomfortable. The sun wasn't really bright and the wind would kick up on and off. I was at the beach this morning, having a blast with my nephew. His little brother should be appearing sometime in the next few weeks so it's nice to have some time with him and my sister before things get a bit more complicated for them.

I've been feeling pretty good, but I get some great reminders that I'm not where I used to be - I had 2 naps today! It's been a while since I've needed that but spending time with my nephew does tend to use up my energy.

There was a thunderstorm today. I moved my potted plants but got concerned about my fairly recently transplanted tomatoes in the garden boxes. I was fighting with a shower curtain (I use it to cover things like carrots) in the wind and a heavy downpour, trying to position it over the cages. I got totally soaked doing so. By the time I got it reasonably secured the storm turned to a light rain haha. I'm hoping for a second one tonight to make that effort worthwhile but probability isn't looking good.
 
Yesterday afternoon turned out to be pretty nice with the sun shining through a light cloud cover, after a morning overcast and drizzling. Today is starting off the same. Temps predicted as a high of 20. I hope it doesn't get much higher; it's quite humid.

I'm still working on the jigsaw puzzle from hell. I aim for at least 10 pieces a day, and sometimes spend an hour or two on it while listening to TV or simply relaxing(?). Sometimes my neighbour comes over. We chat, broken only occasionally with a 'found one', and we get 20 pieces or more. Yes, finished by Christmas looks about right.
 
haha, well, as the more pieces get added, the less pieces left to sort through, so you might be able to track your "per hour" placements and do a prediction using linear equations. -- good math problem for the grandson.

Some enigmas take lifetimes ...
 
I like those types of puzzles Seeler, but with different pieces. I prefer the ones that aren't all the traditional puzzle piece. I do like the regular 4-connectors, but like when the pieces are varied in terms of innies and outties, rather than each piece being inny-outty-inny-outty.
 
Chemgal - that is one of my problems with this puzzle. All pieces the 'traditional puzzle piece'; two innies, two outies. Just minute differences in size and shape and many of them with blotches or slashes of white snow, on black rocks, and various shades of blue shadows. So far today I've found four pieces. I think Seelerman found one.
 
I am not so patient with very difficult puzzles. I like a challenge but if I get too frustrated I give up.
 
Paradox, I think I'd be tempted to if I didn't have a friend encouraging me and sometimes helping. Today she didn't come over. But in total I found eleven pieces. That's eleven I don't have to look for tomorrow; eleven I don't have to sort through as Pinga pointed out. I'm getting there. But 11 out of 1,000? Slow - frustrating. But oh the thrill of finding each one.
