Each year for my birthday since the time I was 5, family and friends have gone to see a movie. I haven't selected the movie for this coming year yet, though I'm thinking it may be Moana. I've read good things about it from my favorite movie critic.

Tabitha - years ago when I could claaim to be middle-aged I read the poem 'when I am old I shall wear purple' ... and a red hat' and I thought I'd like to wear purple and red, and sometimes do or say outrageous things. Well, I must not be 'old' yet because I don't have a purple or a red hat. On the other hand I do have lots of red in my clothes - and I've always done andd said things that some people consider outrageous but I think fun or adventurous.

Even purple people need heaters ... thus the embers ... if you're kohl ... and have gathered ... you can start a pyre! A giggle, or rift of laughter helps in the state we're in ... if you look around you discover POGO was right ... we are our own worst ... knockwurst?

Weiners!

seeler you never know you could get a red or purple hat for Christmas.
There is an equivalent poem for Men that says " when I am old I shall wear plaid"

on the topic of movies - I went to see LA LA Land on Wed - enjoyed it, although perhaps it was a tad long. Great for lovers of old time Hollywood musicals; excellent cinematography & sets, colours etc; easy on the eyes with Emma Stone & Ryan Gosling in the romantic interest roles. It was the opening screening at the Whistler Film Festival - I wasn't sure what else to expect in addition to the film - got to hear all the official political welcoming speeches  For this I paid a premium? Oh well. It was an event! And I did enjoy the movie.

Not doing too well. Been having some mouth issues on and off for quite a while. Saw a doctor and dentist quite a while ago and neither were able to offer any help - other than to see the other professional. Wasn't a big deal though - pop an NSAID and it would work, might act up for a week or a month like that and then just randomly stop.
Last few days it's been bad though. Filler antibiotic ENT recommended trying for it. Sinus issues may be part of the problem, not really sure. Last night was intolerable. Finally tried firazyr around 3am that fixed 90% of the issue. But it's increasing again. Chemguy's mixing berinert up for me right now. Hopefully it helps.

hope you feel better soon ChemGal. Must be frustrating to keep having these things occur.

Anyone else spending today on Christmas preparations?

Spending the morning and afternoon on doing homework, and continuing to work on a sermon I'm preaching next Sunday on the subject of Joy (part of our Advent series - Hope, Love, Joy, Peace). In the evening I'm going to the potluck Christmas party of my seminary cohort.

I am. Sorting items, then moving furniture to make room. Our house is setup for 4 people. Not 25, need to make the circle wide, wider, widest!

I'm doing another Christmas Cheer home visit. And I plan to make cinnamon buns (some to keep, some to give away). I will also start addressing Christmas cards. So, yes, I'm doing Christmas stuff.

Awww, ChemGal. Hope things go better today.

Christmas cheer? Tell me more?
Our community has a Christmas Cheer program run one hundred percent by volunteers. We give food baskets and gifts to those who apply for it and qualify, based on reported income and expenses. Families with children get home visits from volunteers like me. We review their applications and talk about what kinds of toys/gifts the children would like. The hard part is arranging the visits, but once there, I have met truly lovely people who are very grateful for the gift of Christmas Cheer!

aaah, I remember you mentioning it earlier, but, had forgotten it was called "christmas cheer" thanks for taking the time to re-explain and also to add such a gift to your community
