Enjoy Newfoundland Pinga. I went to Joe Batt's Arm, Fogo Island many years ago. Loved the experience and I still talk of it often.

Bon voyaage - I'll look up and wave at your plane as you pass by NB. Have a wonderful time. Take some pictures!

Hah, haven't packed long johns....though, I tell you, my suitcase is definitely packed, as we expect temperature variants from 2 - 14 C, and are also doing urban & small town stuff.

Gloves are packed. Will grab a scarf.

Remember the rules about weather in NWFY ... if you don't like it, wait 20 minutes ... it'll change!

Called home from NWFY every evening when I travelled there, one early March my spouse complained bitterly about the rain in Halifax ... I never told her till late that week that the sun was out in St. Johns and the temperate had reached 30!

Another trip I left St. Johns on June 7 ... it was 0 and by Clarenville Gander there was 20 cm of snow on the ground ... when I got to Fredericton the following day it was 37 ... enjoy the diversity ... why the NWFY's call it gods land .. anything can happen ...

Main liner's and those landed in religious intent try and control what serendipity suggests you might best leave alone with a sense of respect ... just observe ... thos rye people at the sure point ... about to jump ... into what ... only God knows ...

Smokey this morning. The air quality index really doesn't work well for me I find. It has been registering a 4 quite often. Today it's a 5. I've been fine watering plants, carrying the watering can back and forth to the rain barrels, out for quite a while although taking brakes.
Today, just taking off the cover on my plants I was feeling out of breath. I had only picked up a few fairly small rocks and I was coughing. I probably need info about what's in the air, just an overall number is not enough.

So, interesting day ahead. Having dim sum with a former WC member that I have kept in touch with. It's Elanorgold for those who recall her. She withdrew from WC for a raft of personal reasons and so never joined WC2.

Sweet. I hope she has worked out everything in her personal life for the best. Nice that you have stayed in touch with her.

I'll be spending the day at Yobo's flower store in Oakville. Going there to do my floriography work, as well as meet the artist who'll be displaying her works at the June "Lake Walk" (where visual artists present their paintings etc. outside Oakville businesses).

Music lady, right? Do recommend a live Adam Cohen concert to her for me (and a hug, too, if she 'does' those from literal strangers...)

Yum, dim sum. Off in a corner of Chinatown in TO a friend and I were convinced by our waitress to "be adventurous" and try tripe. Yikes...makes calamari seem downright un-rubbery...

Happy Saturday. It is rainy and getting cooler here as the day goes on. Tried to take Lucy down to the lake this a.m. but slept in 'til 7, and there was already someone with a dog heading down to the beach. Lucy does not predictably 'do' other dogs well, so that was a disappointment for her.

Middle child is 28 today. I'm having 18 people over for lasagna, salad, bread, and choice of two kinds of cake...neither one very fancy. Our house is small, so we get a little crowded, and we often need to eat on our laps. Missing my uncle today, who died January 29th. Today would have been his 80th birthday. It was at last year's birthday celebration when we first learned that he was unwell. So, sad memories too.

That's her.

I like some tripe but I agree that it is quite rubbery. Our favorite Vietnamese place puts it in their house special pho along with thin sliced beef and tendons. Quite delicious.

Grandson was confirmed yesterday along with four other boys and one girl. We were so proud of him. He is generally quiet and withdrawn but yesterday he got up in the pulpit in that big church and led a prayer, then he went through the confirmation routine (promises and blessings), and served communion - passing the trays of bread and of juice with confidence and grace.
It was a beautiful service. All the confirmants took part - for Pentecost the girl read a prayer in Portugeuse and a boy read one in French (English version printed in the bulletin). The two oldest boys (brothers 19 and 17) spoke about the journey of faith (keeping it brief for a busy service). The other boy read scripture.
And hanging from the balcony on the right, near the choir loft was our big bright colourful rainbow flag.
After the service, and a bit of mingling and picture taking (see pictures on facebook), we went out to dinner.
What more could one ask for!

@Mendalla , say "hi" to Elanor Maybe she would like to drop by now that we are a different place.

I've nudged her a few times but she doesn't seem interested. Had a nice lunch and a walk along the Thames with her. Was surprised by Little M. He was pretty friendly with her in spite of being fairly shy.

How fun to see your grandson confirmed! 1/3 of my now adult kids took this step. Great photos and yes it is a day to celebrate.

I'm not doing so great today. Allergies have been pretty bad. Last night my throat felt funny, it started as itchiness but not a generalized itchiness like I often get with allergies, it was little tiny spots that kept moving. Almost pins and needles but of itching. Waited until it turned to pain to treat it, by then it was after midnight. And I gave up and fell asleep before the attack was completely gone as it took so long since I waited. I'm still dealing with typical allergy throat symptoms today.
I took a look at the air quality it was 4 and 5s yesterday although my breathing was fine while outdoors. I'm guessing that was at least part of the problem though.
I had a really good day Friday so it's disappointing to be knocked back again, but hopefully this wind will eventually blow a bunch of crap away instead of toward me. Rain would be good too.

Broke my normal vacation rules and ate for the 3rd time at the same restaurant. It is some good.

First night was salt cod fish cakes, second day was lunch of seafood chowder and today seafood linguine.

We saw moose today and also went on a wonderful boat tour out to two different icebergs and a growler

So I get my first client (before I'm ready, but they're in a rush), and they are set on having me design them a concrete deck. A big one. I take measurements last week, try to find a layout that works and doesn't obstruct views....and realize it's not a good idea. Go back today and tell them that their idea is stupid and they want a wood frame deck with composite or vinyl deck surface to be as maintenance free as possible, and a water management system to redirect the rainwater. Basically, I went rogue on my very first design. I held my breath, but they agreed with me.

Whew.
