@Carolla That is a gorgeous pattern.
I quite like the Trailing Ivy pattern too! I was looking for something else - but well, you know how the internet is ... lots of splendid things to capture one's attention!! It's not a shawl I would likely make ... but you never know!!

Have finished a couple more shawls since last posting -

This one is all acrylic yarn & is a gift for confirmation. I wrote some nice prose to go with the card, about why I chose the pattern & yarn for this young woman. Northwind you will recognize the pattern as "Katie's Shawl" from the Cozy Up sisters.

And I just finished this one ("Lovella") - a gift for my jeep-driving, denim-wearing, country-music-loving colleague. Yarns are cotton/linen blends so it will not be too hot for "a woman of a certain age" ;) Goes well with her blue eyes & blonde hair, and blue jeans! (the photo is a bit darker than the actual shawl)

Very nice @Carolla. You might be interested to know that Hippy Strings is having a KAL starting in a couple of weeks. They have a group on Ravelry. The shawl is very pretty

I have finished a shawl for a friend. I can't upload the photo I have because this site won't let me right now. I was really happy with the results. It is Olilia and I added a border that turned out very well.

Right now I'm knitting socks for a friend at church. I donated them to a silent auction and she bought them

Oh - Hippy Strings - such a great name - I remember their store - I think the sisters shot one of their videos there - so colourful! I will look them up on Ravelry.

Thanks Kay. I generally choose patterns that are reasonably simple, but encourage me to learn something new as well. I'm getting betting at ripping stuff out with abandon and beginning again a few times until I get the hang of it. Have never tried socks tho - seems a lot of work to tuck away inside boots & shoes!

Northwind - I'm thinking about doing a fairly simple 'boomerang' shape shawl but would like to do 3 colour stripes on it. The pattern I have is just one colour. So I'm thinking it would be helpful to add an i-cord edge in order to run the yarns up to their next stripe & not have too many ends to weave in. Have you ever modified a pattern in this way - any tips?

I think that is quite doable @Carolla. No tips right now. The shawl Hippy Strings is doing might be similar to what you want. 3 colours

I am a very slow knitter, but I finished my fingerless gloves, and I'm just about to start the heel on my first pair of socks on round needles. Had a lesson yesterday; but because the body of the damn things is all rib, they're slow and I hadn't got quite to the heel, so Cat cast on a sample and showed me what I was going to do next, and translated the pattern in my head for me from three needles to round. Irritated with the pattern after all this rib, and also not thrilled with the 'commercial' yarn I bought, I'm forcing myself to finish them before I decide exactly what I will do (small shawl or cowl?) with the beautiful Ontario hand-dyed merino I found at one of my sister's favourite wool shops (it's primarily a gorgeous fuschia, but there's some turquoise, some scarlet).

@Northwind - came across this little free pattern today & it brought to mind your prior interest in possible campsite knitting - just a little 'souvenir' item that might appeal to some Odd Ends | Carina Spencer and wouldn't take much time or material to create.

Also - what about having a few little baby hats? Parents might not anticipate some cold camprground nights.

I suppose we should almost call this thread spring knitting though it doesn’t feel like it today.

I put the sock I started to the side as I wasn’t “feeling it” and didn’t have a project in mind. Went to the bf’s parents for Easter and saw a sweater his mom had made for her great granddaughter and loved it! It’s made to look like a letterman jacket with the chart to change the letter and numbers on the sleeves. The original pattern used blues with red accents but his mom did it in pinks with grey accents which I loved. I’ve now done one of the fronts (including my first pocket) and started the second front.

Took a break from that sweater to make a bootie and headband set for my cousin who is pregnant. I was just invited to a shower for her and wanted to get these done. I followed this pattern but used a mint green as the main and cream for the accent bow. Made an simple headband with matching bow to go with them. I’d share pictures but I don’t have the uploaded anywhere.

I did quite a bit of knitting for my newborns. Since I didn't know the gender of either, I knitted a lot of neutral stuff, which was good, because it did them both. Lots of green and peach and turquoise and white and silver... Until after I'd had my first one, I used to really like "funky" buttons - shaped like bunnies, or something. After I had tried to fasten an outfit on a squirming baby, I cursed those buttons and didn't do it again.

It sure feels like spring here today. Finally. We still have a ton of snow that needs to melt. It is doing well today at 9 or so degrees. I like some of the ideas here. I'm working on a sock now. I should be able to get the first sock done and the second started soon. I just finished a pair for a friend. They will be delivered tomorrow.

I am planning to do a KAL starting tomorrow. It is a three colour shawl and the KAL is through Hippy Strings in Sexsmith, AB. The shawl is Suburban wrap. Anyone can join. They have a group on FB and on Ravelry.

That will be gorgeous @Northwind! I checked out the pattern - I like it - am working on some others at the moment, but added it to my 'favourites' file on Ravelry :-)
