also reported today , on a different topic, is thatTelfords husband, is a senior VP inthe firm that is handing the mortgage relief. Questions ar being raised why it isn’t simply being handled by the government Assertions that Telford has a screen so she is unaware of this issue with her husbands company. But that isn’t stopping questions and requests for documentation
I thought I read that Telford gave full disclosure and researched whether there was a conflict of interest or not?

That what reports say

and yet, her husband a senior VP in a company who had not done this before was involved

is it just that the government is overloaded and parsing things out? Perhaps. But still worth investigating

i only remember her husband from some CBC panels. Very partisan. Very condescending. Didn’t know he was married to PM Chief of staff Makes his appearances on CBC very unusual. If you are married to a very important person you generally keep a low profile

Or it could be the government has never been very successful in any business it's been involved in.
Anyway, sure, worth looking into.

The part that bothers me the most was it seemed like a bad scheme in the first place. Could not provide the support students would have needed, and had a heavily bureaucratic design. Far better to provide cheap loans (1% or so payable after leaving education) for tuition above other loan programs. There are probably many other better alternatives. Privileged people feel compelled to require less privileged people to deserve their handouts.

The most recent testimonies don’t really add much clarity

when asked what due diligence was done there seems to be a gap

that speaks poorly of the public service as well as the ministers

ni one checked the financial viability. No one check the ability to deliver in French ( in can’t). No one seemed to check anything

that is both concerning and puzzling. All of these people collectively watch over our money. And yet no heads are rolling

in Justin’s first go round he quickly fired two MOs without due process due to complaints of sexual discrimination. But now, with all this evidence of lack of care and possibly more than that no one is gone. Odd

and I see the money hasn’t yet been totally repaid. Odd

Is due diligence a no-know syndrome when deep into politicos?

If one didn't know where the emotions come from ... a dark hidden monster? Tis a growing spot ...

Paper today has the surprise announcement that WE has in fact been lobbying since January. 43 times, six ministers and 21 of those times toWernick. And many times to someone in the Finance office
oops

this is a very bad look

the executive said they decided to after the fact note the calls

interesting that the calls from the government to WE are not registered so it is much more contact than that

also interesting that this started in January. WE was trying to drum up its next government gig, having had $5 millon in government largess since Trudeau took office. $1 millon in the 8 years Harper was in office

so I guess that they were trolling for work, putting out proposals and then suddenly Covid hit and they jumped into it

the concerning part of this, over and above WE and it’s debatable practices, the government having this poorly thought out program , the idea that WE just cozyied right up to a $45 million pay cheque, ; is that people who are not lobbyists are in regular contact with government staff and politicians

howmany other organizations are pressing the government for work without anyone knowing because they don’t have to register those calls. And apparently there is no record of calls to government unless they are registered. Nice Catch 22

Someone said there was no corruption in high places because the strong winds (pneumas) blow them away ... neigh Misses, redacted?

After that the fallout ...

So Morneau is gone. Not totally because of WE. It sounds more like the PM wants to spend spend spend and Morneau wanted to apply some discipline.

Well Trudeau prorogued parliament. It is coming back only two days after it was already scheduled to return. So this was just to shut down the committees

guess we will never totally know what happened with WE after all

And of course Harper did it to avoid a non confidence vote. And Chretien next did it twice. And of course Justin promised he would never resort to such tricks. Oops. I guess when WE is simmering it is worth a trick or two

I am suspecting the opposition may consider voting against the throne speech, which puts us into an election (that's one of the votes that is a confidence vote by definition).

And now the RCMP is investigating the contract

of the5000 pages released that aren’t redacted, there are lots of questionable issues as reported by all the papers

the finance department, thePMO, the youth minister, the public service. All of them are pretty poorly shown with the reporting so far

so we sit and wait. It appears , according to the papers, that WE was infiltrated deeply Into the liberal party. The announced only WE could do this job but that was because the designed the program with WE. Hand in hand.

Thus the busting of the people ... the PAX wishing to escape oppressive politicos ... where is the party in the media/medium ... lying flat out, or telling of manna of things we'd rather not her?

Read intuit ...

All wars are Banker Wars ...

Recent news that Mark Carney, a former governor of both the Bank of Canada and Bank of England, is advising Trudeau during the pandemic fueled speculation that Morneau might be replaced.

Carney and Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland would be considered favorites to replace Morneau but a senior government official told The Associated Press that Carney is not a potential candidate to replace him. The official spoke on condition of anonymity as they were not authorized to speak publicly about the matter.

Carney was the first non-Briton to take the top job at the 325-year-old Bank of England.

Opposition parties have been calling for Morneau’s resignation over allegations that he had a conflict of interest in a controversy with WE Charity, a scandal that has also touched Trudeau.

Trudeau has said he should have recused himself from a Cabinet decision to award a contract to We Charity to administer money to students having trouble finding work due to the pandemic. The almost billion-dollar program came under scrutiny after it was revealed that We Charity, an organization Trudeau’s family has worked for, was chosen to administer it. Trudeau’s wife, brother and mother have been paid a combined $300,000 Canadian (US$221,000) for speaking at a number of WE events.

Nelson Wiseman, a political science professor at the University of Toronto, said Morneau’s resignation is not a surprise and noted he too had a conflict of interest with the charity.

“By firing Morneau, Trudeau is hoping to take the attention off himself,” Wiseman said. “Once the government announced that Carney was ‘advising’ Trudeau, that signaled that Morneau would soon be gone.”

Wiseman said Morneau is the sacrificial lamb in the We Charity affair.

Certainly is so far And of course parliament is the other sacrificial lamb. Just shut the committees down

the pages release that aren’t redacted are quite damming. Makes you wonder what is on the other pages if they thought this stuff was ok

WE contacting the finance minister with an email that starts Hi Bill?. Pretty cozy

There are two, perhaps three, outcomes here. Trudeau shifts the focus with some dramatic policy initiative in the new throne speech and WE gets relegated to discussion by the chattering classes OR the throne speech gets defeated and there is an election. While the WE thing will be an election issue, if the Liberals win, WE is clearly not an issue and will be forgotten quickly. If the Conservatives (whoever may be leading them then) win, they will make some noises about "uncovering the truth" but with the Liberals out of power, no one will really have any incentive to carry on with it unless the RCMP actually find something criminal (which I doubt).

In short, barring the RCMP turning up something, this is probably going to be over by Christmas. At most, Trudeau loses the election on it.
