Why? I don't know ... things out of the Nordic forest be fore Boden ... thus floaters! Black Forest mysteries OI'n Cares ... brute augurs!

This is a witty article. There are a couple of really good lines in it.

So the White House may be decided, but the senate remains open. Both Georgia Senate seats are going to run-off votes on January 5. If the Dems win both, the Senate will be tied. Since the VP holds the tie-breaker vote in the Senate, Harris would tip that tie to a very slim Democratic majority on votes. If the Dems lose even one, though, then the Senate remains GOP, though only by a razor-thin margin. This may be the most important run-off vote in US history, certainly in my memory.

This is probably dumb question, but I'll ask anyway, can the Dems "stack" the senate after Biden is president by adding more or the Supreme Court?

I will bow to a better guess, but I THINK, that you're asking if the new Pres can increase the number of seats on the Supreme
Court, thus paving the way to a more balanced SCOTUS, maybe 6-5 instead of the current 6-3. OTOH, probably needs a clear Senate majority, which I'm not imagining that Georgia will deliver, to accomplish that.

The US Senate provides each state with 2 senators; no President can add to that. The Supreme Court, if I remember, was once 7 judges; not sure when it expanded to nine. But I'll bet that expansion was a tough tooth-and-nail struggle to get done, I don't imagine it will enlarge any time soon.

Footnote} after the Civil War, and the assassination of Lincoln, Congress reduced the court from 10 members to 7, so Andrew Johnson (who succeeded Lincoln, and was never terribly popular) couldn't appoint any new justices. In 1869, Congress raised the number to 9. FDR tried to raise the number to try to make the SCOYUS more amenable to the New Deal Programs, but the attempt fizzled out.

Thankyou, I guess I was just thinking of Trump and all of his executive orders and wondering if once president it could be done.

It seems irresponsible to me that there are huge barriers to changing numbers of scotus seats, while making the 'rules' around SC appointments so sketchy.

I get how disappointed and angry trump lovers are. We saw how angry and upset democrats were last election. And that lasted four years. Of course trump only lived up to or down to everyone’s expectations. But still. There was anger. And voters voted. It’s the way the system works. Last time and this time. So the anger doesn’t surprise me

what is upsetting is trump deciding to toss the idea of elections in the garbage. If I don’t win it isnt fair. Doesn’t matter what anyone says about it.

last election they ended up with democrats motivated to do better next time and mobilize the vote

this time they end up with Republicans ,not motivated for the next vote ,but not trusting the system

that is a big difference

I say -----Here is one for you all thinking that Biden and his team is so great and wonderful and such nice people --who will bring peace and unity and make America the best it can be again by never being vindictive in nay way --

Democrats are giving McCarthyism a major comeback with blacklists for Trump supporters, and we should all be worried

Blacklisting anyone perceived as supportive of President Donald Trump has become a shockingly mainstream idea for liberals, who are proving day after day that they embrace the very authoritarian beliefs they claim to be against.
It may be difficult to believe, but McCarthyism seems to be making a comeback.
