What? inner sanctums? Could this lead to spontaneous flames ...

I imagine something like what history tells us about a passive population and the the rise of a totalizing power. Why did German Protestants, with the exception of a faithful remnant, support Hitler? He promised to make Germany great. As Herod promised to make Jerusalem great. What happens when the left is subjected to reality?
And, in more recent times in North America - those in white hoods who burned crosses on front lawns and vandalized and terrorized communities of colour. They form a once quiet now rather brazen part of Trump's base. They aren't even shy about their bigotry. Here are a few relevant lines from my prep for Sunday morning:
“The texts for this week notice the difference between prophets who question the exercise of power and prophets who support the way of power. Jeremiah makes plain that not all who speak in the name of God are truly representing God. We, who know the scriptures well, are aware that Jeremiah was not much appreciated in the courts of power.
Truth calling power into question is a key aspect of the Biblical revelation. We notice this in the Psalm. There is the notice of power abused and then the call to work for justice. Hebrews invites us to participate in the way of God and so make a difference in the earth. It also shows us that Jesus did not avoid the suffering that comes with truth telling. For this Jesus is raised to sit at the right hand of God; indicating his role as intercessor and redeemer. Then in Luke we notice Jesus has become aware of what is to happen to him because of his truth telling.
We, like persons in the time of Jesus, are called to be watchful as history draws to a critical change point. The key thing is to rightly interpret the signs of the times and act accordingly.”

One of Trump's administrators wants to change the sign on the Statue of Liberty to read "Bring us your poor huddled masses yearning to breathe free...if they can stand on their own two feet." !!! He says that applies to European immigrants! It's bold faced fascism.
It's finally obvious. Trump is mentally ill. His suggestion to buy Greenland is bad enough. But his reaction to the refusal is far, far worse. This is a man with a dreadfully unbalanced ego. There is no telling where this might take us.
Where is the evidence for those numbers he cites to support his claim that those countries are ripping off the US?
Yes, things are taken out of context. The bigger context (the history of a person) matters too
He’s just citing trade deficits. If his numbers were wrong, they would have brought that up. Right at the beginning trump stated that most of them were fake news, and they do not disappoint. They took 5 words from all that he said, and spun it to mean that what he was really saying is that he is antisemite and a racist that’s gotta go.
I know it is practically impossible for most people to understand because they are bombarded with this all day long.
But slowly people awaken from their stupor. Fun to watch, but unbearably slow. And then there are those, who shall remain nameless, who are sooo indoctrinated that I think they may not be recoverable. Commios, if you will.
