They need to factor in where people under 35-40 get their information from. The YouTube show (which is actually a radio show and podcast that can be seen on YouTube) I like now uses sensational titles as click bait. I don’t like that, but competing for “clicks” is how they get people to watch...and they are competing with right wing you tubers who totally distort the truth, in order to debunk them or call them out. They are in a totally different kind of media environment - one that generally attracts a younger demographic than traditional media - and its a huge demographic not to be dismissed out of hand like I find older people apt to do...at your peril because that’s what happened in 2016. Older voters had no idea this huge contingent existed on YouTube. I knew some garbage was out there but didn’t realize how influential it was until midway into 2016 - and that’s how they move the algorithms to get people to watch and steer them away from right wing garbage (unfortunately it has to be done that way because YouTube is designed that way). That show can be better described as sometimes humorous, mostly critical, opinion commentary, and serious interviews, than as “news” though. If they present misinformation because they are repeating another reputable source that did the same or they get a detail wrong, they will correct their error once pointed out (commenters are quick to point out any error), but they don’t deliberately “disinform” or wildly misinform unless they are obviously joking about something (it’s quite clear, they laugh at their own jokes). They know their politics and history quite well. Sam Seder, the main host, is also an occasional MSNBC guest political commentator, but rarely these days, I gather. He’s interviewed people like Bernie Sanders and Glenn Greenwald, and prominent climate scientists, directly on his own show.

Just so you know. I am determined not to fall for fake news. I wouldn’t watch these people if I thought their point of view was misleading....they tend to do their homework well, and when they are speculating, they say so.

There are people broadcasting out of their garages - some have made significant money, some make next to nothing doing it - who are far more popular with younger adults - a lot of younger adults - than, say, Anderson Cooper, or Wendy Mesley or Vassley Kapelos (here), or Tamara Taggert or whoever on TV, because they don’t even watch TV or read the traditional “papers”. That needs to be taken seriously and the dangerous ones need to be pushed back against according to the way the algorithms are structured.

(Under 35. 40’s probably a stretch. Although a few of us middle aged - yikes - adults, are paying attention to what’s going on, on the “interwebs”.)

Anyway...Trump is doing a bang-up job of misinforming and disinforming people all by himself, from his toilet at 3 a.m. - as I comment from my bed at 3 a.m. lol. but he doesn’t even consider, or maybe he does, the powerful reach he has from his toilet at 3 a.m. - not to metion in televised speeches. There are people, sadly, who would not have even raised an eyebrow at this error.

The man is an impervious enigma. A clown-fascist iconoclast. It’s amazing. But not in a good way. The one good thing I could say about Trump is that he’s so powerfully and unabashedly ignorant...he may have woken the world up and done us a favour. Maybe one day when he’s out of office we can thank him for it. Maybe.

For the record, I don’t think its bad that a leader talks to dictators to try to persuade them to get along, to negotiate, and to change egregious human rights abuse or to de-escalate conflict or potential conflict. I do have a problem with a leader haphazardly barreling in, and kissing up to, and selling out to, and trying to model themselves after, dictators.

He amuses the deeper darker parts of our minds ... the part that we cannot believe exists because we are told it is unconscious ... that can't be can it? Thus the parts of mystery and unseen ...

Should one really understand these darker areas? ... scares the crap out of the proto type ...

He said in a public speech at his military event that there were airports in 1775! I know he slipped up, but it’s still hilarious! And sad at the same time. Because he carried on, and didn’t even hear what he was reading. It’s like a Monty Python sketch. His whole presidency.

Which is concerning because he's up for re-election. The American public is responsible for who they elect next, and they need to get active - and to take responsibility for their mistakes in 2016, even if they didn’t vote for Trump, not brush them off. They are responsible for not seeing it coming, and being too comfortable thinking Hillary was a shoe-in.

A little statistical deviation in the computer returns and he wins again! Even if we can't see how it occurs ...

Oblivion is a well accepted reason ... sheer rational!

Actually, more importantly, the left could get their s**t together and vote for anyone not Republican.

On a FB page there was an 80 year old cartoon showing a dining room and several tables issued to arts, science, education, health care, war, etc.

The war table was being fed mounds of consumables ... while strangely the other tables were devoid ...

The caption said; "Has anything changed?" It appears not ... even the fact that many are blind to the sic jocularity!

When all else fails go for the jocular ... let them bleed ...

That, I believe, requires a constitutional change and if you think it is hard to amend our constitution...yeah. Much as there might be support for it, it is a battle no politician is going to fight without good reason. And there is no way it could be done in time for 2020 now. You'd be doing it for 2024.

Short version: Has to pass, IIRC, both federal houses and all fifty states.

Actually only three quarters of the states.

Article V of the United States Constitution:

"The Congress, whenever two thirds of both Houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose Amendments to this Constitution, or, on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments, which, in either Case, shall be valid to all Intents and Purposes, as part of this Constitution, when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States, or by Conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other Mode of Ratification may be proposed by the Congress ..."

Here's a good followup to Trump's stand that climate change doesn't exist ... one must fight these things ...

Then there's this ridiculous statement in poles set in the scheme of conflict:

How far can these conflicting concepts go in polity of cooperation? Leaves a whole world ... outrightly confused ... an alien state of mind like heaven being somewhere else? That will go down shortly ...
