Hardly irrelevant. I'd say inappropriate in the modern day for a whole variety of reasons, but history is never irrelevant. We should learn as much as we can about the leading figures of the Confederacy.I can totally understand during times of heightening racial tensions - why black Americans, and anyone in the interest of racial equality would want a General Lee statue taken down.
It's old and irrelevant. Put them in the dinosaur museum. Take photos for the history books. But people shouldn't need constant reminders of their ancestors' oppression forced on them in their own town squares - especially while white supremacy is having a new surge and systemic racism continues.
