It's old and irrelevant. Put them in the dinosaur museum. Take photos for the history books. But people shouldn't need constant reminders of their ancestors' oppression forced on them in their own town squares - especially while white supremacy is having a new surge and systemic racism continues.

Hardly irrelevant. I'd say inappropriate in the modern day for a whole variety of reasons, but history is never irrelevant. We should learn as much as we can about the leading figures of the Confederacy.
 
I'm afraid we can't change history. erasing the history books will not bring back the Jews who died in Hitler's camps.
I'd prefer to see added statues to reflect the reality of history. I would put a statue of Martin Luther King next to Jefferson Davis.

I agree that inappropriate is a better descriptor. We don't have to have monuments to them in public squares for all, imo. They can be photos in history books and statues kept in museums, and sites, for the purpose of education not revering..

That can change. For example, I'd like to see both the good and evil aspects of Nellie McClung's work represented in history books. Yes, she was a suffragette, for women's rights. She was also a proponent of eugenics in the form of forced sterilization, that affected the disabled, and First Nations women. She wasn't for the rights of all women. She was for the rights of elite/ upper class white women. I guess that was progress, in her time...but it was also ignorance and bigotry.

Since as you say history isn't truth but perception
Then we can change history
By changing perception
Though how successful attempts have happened, consciously or unconsciously...through mob hysteria or through natural adoption of a belief or idea through a population (current research says all it takez for an idea to become mainstream is for only 10% of the pop to deeply believe in the idea) or through intentional means?

Hijacking the elections then influencing views on Ukraine. Hardly peace moves.

My read of the situation is that Russia wants to divide and conquer Europe. He wants Europe divided against itself - especially central and eastern - and he wants to use Trump to help him do it. Putin doesn't give an actual damn about the two countries' relations. But he is creating division which could lead to more Ukraine like wars across Europe. Trump has cut aid intended for democracy building to several countries in the Balkans by nearly half - that leaves Russia to move in to fill the gaps. And if they don't - and the cut in aid money hurts their societies, there is more chance of even more divisions in the region and opportunities for Russia to take over.

Maybe Scott's hallucinations are rewriting his perceptions of reality.

No moral equivalency! We need to call on anti-racists protesters to condemn the few far left ones who use violent tactics - precisely so this argument cannot be made!

Here's an idea - take Social Justice back from those who tarnished its name. Social Justice Warrior means fighting for social justice. There is nothing about social justice to be ashamed of. Don't let the violent alt-right demean it. Put "Peaceful" in front of it. And as part of being a PSJW - let people who use violent tactics to fight bigotry know that they do not belong if they use such tactics. Tell them such tactics are incompatible with PSJWs goals... ostracize them for such behaviour. Put them in the far alt-left corner, don't let them in unless they can behave. And teach them why violence is not necessary - because it shuts down legitimate dissent; it prevents peaceful resistors voices from being heard.
