TRUMP - Some people think......... How do you feel?

Except we were told not to make a spectacle with our praying.....so to me this is disgusting and disrespectful.

Would you do away with all public prayer and/or prayer meetings?

What I think we're not supposed to do is to pray to self-righteously boast that we're superior to others.

Does that mean you'd do away with all public praying and/or prayer meetings?

I think you can pray in public without making a spectacle of it. Quietly lowering your head and saying a prayer in a hushed voice is hardly making a spectacle. And a prayer meeting isn't really "public" unless you're having it in a public place. Everyone is there for the purpose of praying.

I think that what Jesus was going after was more the people who make a big show of their prayers and work hard to make sure those around hear every word so they know how pious the praying person is. In our day and age, televangelists come to mind.

And that's exactly what the president and his crew were doing with their "prayer session"

Hi,

One thing for sure. Trump has moved to the centre of attention and folk are fascinated by his caricature of responsible leadership. Like people get fascinated by a car wreck in the street.

Oh that people would turn inward to locate a solid centre of gravity by which to begin the work of resistance. Not to Trump or any other person. Resistance to the ideas holding currency. Ideas which spoil the planet and its peoples.

Of Course Herod appeared in Jerusalem when it served his purpose. Of course Caiaphas prayed for him and endorsed him as chosen by God to make Jerusalem great again.

History offers opportunity for recognizing and avoiding the misuse and abuse of power by religion and politics. Sad to say, very few learn from history.

Tongue in cheek ... or just tous cheeky to follow without a Riff't ...?

"I don't want to call it #RussiaGate, maybe you could call it #RussiaHate. That's what it feels like when I go out and try to argue that it would be great to de-escalate the Syrian "civil war" and the only way to do so is to coordinate with Russia. But you're dealing with people whose only political framework is through a partisan political analysis and I guarantee you...if Trump is impeached, if the Democrats score massive victories in 2018, or if Trump basically doesn't run again for his second term, which would leave us with a Pence/Haley ticket...these partisan liberals, you know the so-called "#Resistance" will forget that Russia ever existed and their obsession with Putin will simply fade away and they'll pretend the whole thing never happened. It will leave a lasting geopolitical damage for sure but they can just move on to another boutique issue. When I say boutique issue I mean an issue that regular people can't really relate to."

Ahh, all this talk of treason reminds me of when Bush era Republicans made it popular to stigmatize...and I see its still here...silly Tribalism, whats not ok when the other side says it is ok when my side says it...here's the link
Try Arnett for treason, senator says

Hey! I'm radical left. I''m a socialist - which means I think that government should be designed to serve the people, not just the billionaires. I also believe (know) that billionaires don't create wealth for the rest of us. Indeed, they are, commonly, a drag on the economy.
Naw yer not
You wont ask for someone to be fired or go on a campaign to get someone fired because they said that having a no white day at college is umm racist? Or you won't go and punch a complete stranger in the face just because you thot Trump was a racist.

You're one of the sane guys. A voice of reason and compassion.

Tho of course things have gotten so crazy that normal human you can be labelled as radical. So very bizarre has the hysteria become.

"I think we’re in a bad situation. I really do. Donald Trump is the enemy as far as I’m concerned. He has no morals. He has no integrity. But I have good friends who think he’s wonderful. But I think they put up with it less and less. People are getting pretty tired of him, I think. Some of us were tired of him before he was elected. I think we can put up with it, though. I don’t think it’s the end of the road" - Eugene Peterson.

Really, I think "...no morals" and "...no integrity" is a bit strong. Good to see his optimism though at the end.
I do think that he has no moral core. I haven't seen one yet.
I think however he can still do a good job.
And him is a lot better than a True Believer, like Bush Jr. say.
The GOP know that Trump has no moral core, that hes a kind of empty vessel, and so know how to deal with that. Trump seems to respond very well to praise and so forth.

Still mind boggling when I am able to step back and see the AHCA is GOP (with xtra mormon) created and what people use was penned by the Pharma companies LOL!!!

Here's a fun Bloomberg article on the current state of the AHCA (who it covers etc not the current shenanigans)
Why 27 Million Are Still Uninsured Under Obamacare

And damn those Democrats in California. On their way to a good health care plan, then they were given a lot of money and bam, plan gone.

California Health Care Fight May Show Democratic Party Future In Trump Era

(on Socialism note: I was first pointed to the facts of socialism being integral to current and past US by a constitutional Conservative atheist who liked Reagan. Its everywhere in the US)
