For those not familiary with Mr. Takei, he played Mr. Sulu, the navigator of the USS Enterprise in the original Star Trek who later rose to the rank of captain of the USS Excelsior in the movies. As well as being a well known actor and Internet poster, he is a gay rights advocate and he and longtime partner Brad Altman were the first gay couple to obtain a marriage license in California.

So, leaving aside George Takei for a minute, what do you think? See things there that ring true or is it mostly stereotypes and jokes?

The one about wearing short sleeves on March 1 and winter gear on March 3 rang true (alas) for me. Southwestern Ontario can definitely be like that in March (or even April:rolleyes:).

It's 7:25, 5 to 8 in Newfoundland! I love that 1/2 hour time difference.

Many places here do get rather a lot too much snow. I must say (living in a multiple lake effect snow belt).

I don't bother. Isn't that what my FB friends are for? Sure enough, I've seen this posted multiple times already.

there's a scene from a wes craven movie that my sweetie & i have incorporated into our culture

("music of the heart" -- definitely not a horror movie)

where the americans are walking through a park and come across some canada geese and the young kid admonishes them to 'go home!'

there's a bird in the hawai'ian islands that looked to teenage me awfully like a canada goose, but not exactly and it sounds quite different...called a Nene...

i wonder if the two species are embarassed by each other? "oh no, its the townies again...quick, hide the fine china"

I have seen the Canadian drive through in three different communities. Around here we often change from parka to t-shirt during the day (and vice versa).

Today at bowling there wasn't enough seating, so I dragged a chair from elsewhere partially blocking a passage. I had my legs crossed and my foot sticking out. Someone bumped into it. I said "I'm sorry." "No," she insisted, "I bumped into you and I'm the one who should appologize."
