Ohhh...are we having a virtual Secret Santa this year? I can think of packages for everyone that I cannot manage on $20...let me tell you about my recent addiction to "useful gadgets from MEC"...like a gadget that will i) warm frozen hands or feet, in a sleeping bag or in a pocket, ii) find the dog s**t when you are walking your pooch at night, iii) charge your chronically-battery-inadequate Samsung. It's $70 plus tax, so none of you is getting it, but as a virtual gift, I can imagine it being wonderful as a stocking stuffer for a number of people.

Little M buys a lot of his biking gear at MEC. I was eyeing their handlebar cell phone holders while I was there getting his skis sharpened and waxed. $35-40 IIRC. Might get one for him, too.

Really? Texting and biking whether reading or typing is not safe!
Other reasons to use a cellphone holder. GPS option, see if a call is from someone you want to talk to or not, etc. Also is just a safe place to keep it!

Why are you assuming this has anything to do with texting? I don't text much save with my son and occasionally for work. As @ChemGal rightly points out, my phone is my GPS and I use Strava to plan and map my rides, also on my phone.

OK as a gps it does have merit
I just had visions of using phone while driving bike-something they are cracking down on here

I get people wobbling by my house regularly - eyes on phone. I have also seen pedestrians walk into telephone poles etc. for the same stupid reason. These are NOT my favourite things!

This is "ai" (AI?) not Ni to the natural form as n-eight ... reverting to Nate, or Nathan as an old word for wisdom ... when encountered by am'an ... once known as sol ... but people despise psychotherapy so it goes on somatically ... word is like that as a God abstractly fluid ... bla'coil ... like a snake at night, or neigh 'd as a mare!

These scare some people that haven't gone far into la-la land ... or believe they haven't ... when somatically they have ... with the unknown ... could be magi of the psyche! Don't cha think? Then if people look and listen ... before wandering blindly ... could they experience the IC moment?

A few of my favourite things. I like bold primary colours: deep red and blue. Not so much yellow except perhaps as an accent colour. And green - I like green; black and white.
I like consumables: cheeses, wine, chocolates, nuts, cookies, jams and jellies, pickles, smoked meat and fish (kippers, oysters), lobster (canned or frozen).
I like things to wear: scarves and wraps, gloves, toques, socks
I like to read. I haven't read any of this year's selections for Canada Reads yet. I like novels, particularly historic novels, and books that can make me laugh. No fantasy, science-fiction, or romance.
And what the heck (for virtual Secret Santa) I like puppies, kittens, horses, travel, outdoors, luxury hotels with good restaurants and swimming pools. I've never been on a cruise but I think I would like that too.
And I'd like to be ten years younger, in good health, and have enough money to follow my dreams.

Don't u worry
Eventually our gov'ts will even have all our impure thoughts monitored
Re-education camps for the intransigent
(Reminds me of that prescient Ray Bradbury story "The Pedestrian" about a world where it is illegal to go for a walk outside...)
:p

One should not step outside responsible confinements ... a borderline th' aught!

Thought policing is a spicy job ... crush the wrong fruit and you could be bought on in a stage of tiers ... onion-ism like that ...

I had to check out this thread- I am planning to make a quilted table runner with exactly that title. I am still in the process of collecting the fabric for it- I have birch bark, blueberry, waves, strawberries, apples, cornfield, antique clocks and a lot of other fabric pieces. Have not figured out in what pattern I want to put it together. It will be a winter project, once I am done with Christmas gifts.
