In my ongoing attempt to make publishing a new horror or ghost story for Halloween a tradition, I have posted a new story about a nice old woman and her sweet little black cat. Or are they really that "nice" and "sweet"? The naughty boys of the neighbourhood are about to find out the hard way. Mwahahahaha! (cue lightning and thunder)

So pour some pumpkin spice chai, light your jack'o'lantern, and settle back in your chair to read about...

More just than nasty. And she did give them warning. Stupid men don't listen, particularly to older women, and sometimes karma is just a bitch.
Funnily enough, an old German guy on another site wasn't completely happy with the ending. Though ending with dead people wasn't called for, basically. Liked it otherwise though.

Sorta agree, in that I'm not sure the bad luck needed to go that far, but it didn't spoil the story for me. Some more unconventional bad luck might have worked as well.

I must be vindictive at heart as I thought it was a great ending - and as mentioned above, she warned them

Something has to die at the end it is just the nature of progression so there can be some kind of resurrection, rehabilitation, recycle or other kind of recovery in aliens states ... so it goes as soliloquy (me myself I am told by one source as reproduction is censured). presence as a populace is just an illusion --- God vanity?

That's another daze ... dealing with ... well we just don't know because of the excitement, chaos and distraught nature of the contained ...

Someone sang out ... Please Don't Tell Me How The Story Ends ... thus it repeats like a Revelation or apocalyptical event whereas one can look back at the trailing self ...

On another note a group reading Finnegan's Wake found the same disturbance off the stern ... under the poop deck ... where something prevails ... brute Aye?

Discriminating's ... divine eh? Like Y's ... splitting of hares ... Ray production? Spectra ...

New competition on StoriesSpace with the theme of The Sound of Silence. And, somewhat ironically, my entry draw on my current fascination with heavy music. A singer in a metal band seeks silence and learns a lesson about what silence really means.

Scream Away The Silence

While the singer is based more on figures like Courtney Laplante of the band Spiritbox and Tatiana Shmayluk of Jinger, the title actually riffs on lyrics from a Floor Jansen solo song, which also gets referenced at least once in the story. The two videos below show off the talents of three of singers who kind of inspired the main character. The first has Courtney and Tatiana teaming in a performance by Spiritbox at the Louder Than Life festival this year. The second is also from that festival and has the solo artist Poppy joining Spiribox on stage.

And my story in the Writer's Block competition is done and in. A writer struggling with his latest work goes to his friend's bookstore seeking a break and ends up going in a new direction.

Just read this! Really enjoyed it and the twist :)

Does he turn into a superhero?
