I tend to do that in my contemporary stories. It feels weird to write a story set right now and not bring it up. Though in this case, it was mostly an excuse for him to have an N95.You even managed to bring in the pandemic of 2020

Rest hard ... as relaxation is difficult in a world hell bent to stress the neighbor ... without reflection off the item of loss ... sole? Imagine drawing two hard opposites together like emotions and intellect ... when one hates rational! Then things get agitated ... if it doesn't go their way! It just goes ...
May generate a dark myth like ... well you know what's coming ... rising poem kins ... for those disliking stories! The increasing unread!

Not sure one reference to the pandemic a pandemic story makes, but thanks for the comments. It was more about setting historical context and, frankly, an excuse for him to have an N95 available. Freaking people out is kind of the agenda for a story like this.

New story I mentioned in my writing thread is now up. It's short (under 1000 words, so considered Flash) and falls into the realm of fantasy, with elements of both sword & sorcery (think Conan the Barbarian) and mythic fantasy (gods and such).

I forget, have you read the Sandman graphic novels or seen the TV series? I know you're a big Gaiman fan. As I wrote it, I think I got some hints of Death in the character of Rianai. Not deliberately, but when I was re-reading during edits, some some of her lines came out feeling like it.

I have to tell you, Mendalla, that one of the ways your stories resonate with me is that I am a very small, but sorta strong personality, with a complete mythical/fairy tale background, newly coupled with an equally smart, extremely large and strong German person with an engineering bent. I love the way personalities interact, ergo, I like your work.

This was my first rice paper art work based on the season of fall. At the time I was teaching in NE Calgary, arriving at school close to dawn. The pre dawn fall scene was extra beautiful to me with the special sky colours.

For my winter rice paper collage, I tried to capture the sense of a seed in winter looking dark but life was waiting inside.

For spring we did work in clay but my project did not turn out well. For summer, I was inspired by poppies.
