The comfy chair is my office chair in front of the dining room window, outside of which there is a wine grape vine which the cardinals enjoy squabbling over. I get a few grapes.

Back in memory lane.

Chris Whitley is reminiscent of Hendrix in this song. With a bit of industrial heavy rock /blues/ grunge thrown in - if you can get into this kind of thing. If you're in a good mood, it's a memorizing. Too heavy, kind of irritating, in a bad mood.

I saw him play in clubs in Seattle and Vancouver. You can probably see why 26 yr old me had a huge crush on him and his music. My bf at the time pointed out that I had a thing for rock gods.

Ty folx

It seems to be a single bird. Not like the racket they make when they are in a flock inna bush. The chikka dee dee dee! That is one of the few bird sounds I instantly recognize

Also Nutmeg n I enjoyed the first robin in the morning. Like when the sun was coming up or just b4. And I red that what happens is they wait atop a tall tree and only start that song when they get hit by sunlight. So soothing so early in the morn.

They have another call you usually hear in spring." HI Swee dee"

That was during the Lockdown
Which was also blessedly more quiet and less stinky

Now in week 23, a nightly live concert on facebook at 8:30 each evening by Bruce Petherick Music. Mostly improv playing and some nights it is a jazz trio. During stressful times it helps to calm me after the events of the day. Doing it every night during the pandemic kind of reminds of the violist who did concerts in Sarajevo every day while his country was breaking apart in civil war several years ago.

There was a neet novel (narrative) on that which we reviewed in our book club. Wouldn't interest those that don't read into such things ...

Sorry. Posted a heavily edited version of a song and then realized how awful it was.

Voces8, the UK choral group with which I am smitten, is currently running a virtual choral festival called Live from London. Basically, bringing other classical and choral groups they know or are affiliated with into their facility in London for live but socially distanced concerts. Besides themselves and their sister group Apollo5, they have had The Swingles (who are the continuation of The Swingle Singers and The New Swingle Singers), the Academy of Ancient Music orchestra (baroque-Renaissance specialist orchestra that Voces8 uses a lot when they do something "big" like Handel's Messiah), and an assortment of small choral groups from the continent and US. I have not sprung for tickets (yes, you have to pay), but they are posting highlights on their Youtube channel to help promote the event and I have been working my way through those.

The Swingles

(I think that's an old arrangement. I am pretty sure I remember the New Swingle Singers doing that piece.)

I Faglioni - Italian choral group who did an all Monteverdi concert for the festival

Gesualdo Six - I know neither the group, an all-male sextet, nor the piece, but it's gorgeous.

And, for a change of pace, some instrumental music from the Baroque period performed by the Academy of Ancient Music. Both pieces are by Handel.

The second is actually an aria, written for tenor but I am sure I have heard it sung by a mezzo or soprano as well. I love this instrumental version. The baroque period oboe has a rather different sound from its modern descendant.
