Saturday, the end of another week. It’s been a busy one, but I accomplished quite a bit.
Sunday I was leading worship at my former little church and my message was well received. It was nice to reconnect with old friends. In the afternoon I visited my cousin in hospital to learn that she is going home, the crisis over. It was touch and go for a few days when she was in intensive care.
Monday was rest day – my Sabbath after leading worship.
Tuesday as usual was grocery day.
Wednesday I woke up feeling good. So I started laundry, and hung two lines of laundry out on our new clothesline. (Seelerman and I are attempting to go green.) Then it was time to tackle the job I’ve been putting off – cleaning the fridge. I took everything out; discovering a few things, like a half a cucumber, that had been forgotten for some time. I washed off the shelves and vegetable bins. It was quite a job. Something had been spilled and dripped down under the bins. I actually had to get Seelerman to help me scrub it off. Then everything put back in. By then, with the trips up and down stairs for the laundry and the bending and stretching at the fridge, I felt exhausted. Seelerman made a late lunch and I relaxed in my recliner until it was time to make dinner.
Thursday I did another load of laundry before my guest arrived. Ninjafaery has moved to Fredericton, and I had invited her to come and ‘hang out’ with me for the day. Our project was to make cookies. My recipe is a big one, it makes six dozen or so. We split them in three ways: for ninjafaery, me, and my cousin. Then we prepared a big dinner of porkchops, potatoes, and fresh yellow beans. While it was cooking, I hit the wall – so tired that I felt I needed to sit down. It seemed either I would have to turn the stove off until I regained my strength, or call Seelerman in from his yard work. Instead, my guest offered to watch the cooking.
After tidying up, reading the newspaper, and relaxing, we decided that, rather than play our planned game of Scrabble, we would go downtown to see the Acadian Festival that Ninjafaery read about in the paper. We all had a good time as we walked around the displays and tried to speak a few words in French. Again I was exhausted, but it was a good feeling to be tired from having done something.
Friday was another rest day – except for a quick trip down to my cousin’s place to deliver the cookies, which were much appreciated.
And Saturday we bottled beer.
