A nice surprise yesterday - my sisters Kae and Suzanna, and nephew Tee, came and took Mom out to lunch. They then decorated our place for the holidays, and even left some leftover lasagna for my supper :)
Just how big is your family Brother Jae?

This is the first non-rhyming sibling you have mentioned

P.S. @Pr. Jae

Just having fun! Not trying to make any trouble on this sociable thread.

Such a beautiful day here in Toronto. . . hope you are enjoying it. . . P3

My Mom & Dad had five kids - Kae, Jae, Suzanna, Rae, & Mae. Each of said kids got married. The girls and their husbands all had children. I have two stepsons and a ward. My brother Rae and his wife never had kids. In time, Kae got divorced and remarried and became stepmom to two more kids. Like most families paradox, we are ever-expanding.

I had the honour-on Wed. of accompanying a plane load of students to Disneyland for the day. These students had severe physical disabilities or life threatening conditions. What a day-from 4am Wed to 630 am Thurs (due to a fogged in airport). The 2 gals in my grooupsrode exciting and classic rides, saw the parade, and had a little shoping time. A good time was had by all. I'm still exhausted!

Cool that you did it, though, @Tabitha . I'm sure the students appreciated it.

I think that I remember you doing this before, Tabitha. What a great treat it is for children, to have such a wonderful day, and how good of you to accompany them. Be careful of your health: quick flights are not easy on your immune system.

28 hour days are not good either but I am well. I slept Thurs. morning and popped into work for 3 hours in the afternoon. I worked today but have the weekend off. Yes Pinga I did this in 2013 as well.

Tabitha - I admire your energy and enthuisam. I can imagine myself jumping aat the cchance to do something like this twenty-five years ago.

Jae it is a free trip to Disneyland but it was also caring for 2 children with life threatening illnesses for 28 hours. Our job was to make it all about them. I also spent many hours with families and paper work from last may.

and Jae you would not be accepted as a volunteer-sorry but everyone going-kids included must be seizure free for 6 months before trip. It's because one child needed hospitalized for a seizure and had to stay over.

Props to you for caring for the two children Tabitha, that's wonderful. As for whether or not I'd be accepted, it isn't like I honestly have time right now to go anyway. If I did, and was not accepted due to my disability, I'd take things to the HRC.

Well, OldestSon has headed home...he'll be at the airport now...headed home.

@Tabitha , so happy that the oldest & youngest are there. enjoy the time together.

We had my Dad over for dinner, for a Christmas meal.
Yesterday was filled with cousin time.

I'm so thankful that he was home.

Now two weeks until Christmas.

I went to the Unitarian Church in Halifax today (and did some shopping after). Just wanted to check out how they do their service. 80 minutes drive to church (in good weather) isn't really an option. They had a community choir as a guest- how refreshing- no robes and they just sing out of pure joy- everyone accepted no matter what their skills. I wish we had that option here where I live, I would try it out for sure.
The service was similar to UCC- but no word about God or Jesus. ( My present UCC congregation has new ministers and they seem to emphasize Jesus much more than I can/ want to/ handle). Because of it being the last day of Hanukka, a Menorah was lit next to the usual chalice. There were two occaisions where the congregation was ask to contribute their thoughts- I liked that, our UCC used to have a more contemporary service in which we also go into discussion. It was interesting. I liked the different sources for quotes. The sermon was held by who I think must have been a member of the congregation and was called "through the lense of wonder".
I talked to the minister briefly and was invited to coffee- however, it was very much like my own congregation- you talk with the ones you know after the service, I didn't get into a conversation with anyone in the congregation, though I really wasn't shy and tried. I didn't stay long.
