Sending gentle stretches and some Robaxacet to you Mendalla for your nasty back.

Our extensive lego is still sealed up well in plastic bins up in our garage storage area .... wondering (hoping!) if someday grandchildren might enjoy it.

Lego, a toy that does not lose its value. Well worth passing on. At eleven Grandson still plays with his lego occasionally but I can see it coming out less and less often now that he is in middle school. Pity.

I had a great, but exhausting, day yesterday. Our local Coop store set me up with a table for book-signing and I sold 34 books - almost all that I took with me. Great. I really enjoyed talking to the people who stopped by - some had already read the book, but their comments influenced those standing nearby to take a look. Some bought the books as gifts.
Overheard conversation:
Adult to young teen girl (maybe 14 or so) - 'Would you like one?'
Nod.
Me - 'Should I autograph one for you?'
Adult 'Yes, to Amanda.'
I sign it and the girl picks it up.
Adult 'Maybe Steve would like it?'
Girl 'He's not getting this one.'
Adult 'Please sign one for Steve.'
I packed up at 3:00 pm, picked up Seelerman at a model train show, and we went to the bowling Christmas party. Seelerman won a doorprize of a $25 gift certificate for Superstore. I got two Mason jars of homemade pickles for my gift exchange; Seelerman got three pairs of nice socks.
Played crokinole and cards before getting home for bed.

Sounds like a great day Seeler! I used to love playing crokinole at the cottage - in big family 'tournaments' - lots of healthy & LOUD competition! And bragging rights!

We still have LEGO downstairs in our old toy cupboard. It was a major keepsake from our childhood. That and Fisher Price Playfamily sets.

Not if Little M's Lego is still around or not. He hasn't played with it in years so likely we've given it away.

I was outside doing a little more tidying up in my garden today, and discovered my hellebore 'Jacob' is loaded with buds! I look forward to seeing them open in the coming week - delighted that snow has not yet arrived to obscure my view of them. When I bought this plant in 2013, it was touted as an "early bloomer" - but I hadn't envisioned Nov/Dec as the start of its bloom cycle! It also often shows some bloom in very early spring. So that's my little joy for the day. Now I'm wondering if I should have posted this in the 'gratitude' thread.

My lego is in my classroom, of course. It's quite a collection (3 kids!) but many little pieces have disappeared over the last 8 classes. I'm wondering what to do when I retire: take the remaining lego with me to make Grandma's house builder-friendly to future generations, or leave it behind for the next Grade 1/2 teacher.

Our lego was in the attic in bins. The bins had dog hairs and misc junk that wasn't lego , though the vast majority was lego. Part of the cleanup that has been going on our house is purging stuff. I do hope that the lego loops back if we have grandchildren but just couldn't see holding onto it for 10 years when other kids could be playing with it.

Great news re the sales, Seeler. So fun that it is so appreciated.

Mendalla, sorry about your back. Hope it feels better soon, but, I will say the back institute helped when mine was bad.

Maybe you could use your classroom LEGO in your Sex Ed classes. :D

Just to remind posters that the room for all is a gentle kind thread. It is where we are supportive to each other. We come to find comfort and encouraging words. We come to sit awhile and just be.
Other threads are more suitable for challenging each other and differences of opinions.

I gave away my son's Lego collection, which was a small to medium sized one, I think to the garage sale at the church. Said son was not terribly happy with me when he found out.

Two things I definitely like about Christmas time: eggnog, sprinkled with freshly grated nutmeg, and mulled cider. Help yourselves (what you may choose to spike yours with, virtually or otherwise, is your business ;)).

a couple of schools here have Lego clubs-either before school or at lunch. They would gladly receive any lego donations.

We didn't really have big collections of anything. We had more duplo than lego. Even at older ages we liked it as we could build things to play with ourselves, instead of the lego people. I had some barbies, but not the bins worth like other girls I knew. My sister's original Littlest Pet Shop stuff (very different than what you see now) was probably the biggest collection, unless you counted puzzles and games.

And if you're tired of playing with lego - well Math is an option too! Just saw this pop up on fb :-)

Then the new edition of Mobi Dick is soon to show as a story of a man that lego 've one !

It is a Wahl of a Tale in Hebrew ... where the vessel appears and disappears in the monster below the surface ... a white glorified thing that's mostly blanched ... as the mysterious part of the myth is flippant and off somewhere ... searching for God knows what! Perhaps the meaning of mobii/Mobius/ mob mentality without ordered agenda ... a sacred conspiracy ... so the autocrats won't quite know who's scroo wedgy 'n around!

Perhaps little enough degree of baccalaureate ... that thye should learn about Bacchus and the depth of thought put into script so they won't have to know ... tis a wee detail ... like Pixels in the night sky ... enough of eM to put one to sleep ... blessed rest after the show ... the cushy state ...

I bought 8 nude Barbies (like new) at Sally Ann yesterday,$1 each

. Now I will be knitting like mad to dress them.

I also got about about 50 match box cars for about $3. That was great

There's the grands looked after...my mother was a crazy good knitter for small dolls. I remember vividly a fair isle sweater for a skipper doll.

Last evening I attended a Christmas pot-luck party for the Parkinson's Support Grooup. Interesting experience -- being at a celebration with a group of people (over 30), and over half of them at one stage or another of Parkinsons. I hope to write up a short reflection on it later today or tomorrow.

Like to hear that ... as you know I know more than one there and perhaps many!

With my shaky neurosis ... perhaps I should be two? Caduceus! Joined they fuse for sol ... not common in a fractured society ...
