Well, after church today I vacuumed my car & put in the winter mats ... not exactly Xmasy, but seasonal!

@chansen - nice to hear a little about Zach ... and how lovely to receive such a thoughtful and personal gift from Tabitha :) It will be interesting to see how Claire takes to racing this season.

I'm a bit stuck at the computer ... wanting to clip some youtube video into a powerpoint presentation for work; I thought I had it all sorted out last weekend (felt like a great coup!) but it wouldn't run on the system at work ... GRRR ... looking for options ....
Videos in powerpoint always seem to cause issues. Generally I find it's just better to have the video ready to go, separate from powerpoint. Even when it does work it's often so slow that the presenters end up going online anyway.
It has been a few years since I've seen a video in a presentation though, so there may be some other options.

Our tech team guy is pretty good at stuff like that, Carolla; perhaps I'll PM you and link the two of you up? He's a very helpful man.

*smiles envisioning little Zach coming into his unique personhood from the very helpless babyhood stage*

After church we had a lunch and then a presentation on Palestine and Israel.
I fund myself in tears 3 times today-all unrelated to the presentation.
A couple I know from outside church asked about all three kids- so tears-and a private update-because it was lunch.
Then after church another church friend asked about my youngest. She wasn't aware of his hospital stay-but she is aware of him as he lurks around the edges-and has done a few things with him.
Then-my estranged middle-I am going through her stuff and passing it on. She really has what she needs with her-so this summer I removed lots of feminine clothes from the house. Friday night I gave away 2 of her snowglobes-she had a collection.
Our minister has a stuffed animal collection in his office. I passed on 4 of hers. There came the tears again. I am keeping the very favourites of her globes and stuffies but getting rid of the excess. It's really her work but she can't/won't do it. And so this work, plus the season stirs up many feelings-happy memories and a longing for middle one.

Probably will end up having to do it this way. My hospital's IT system is OLD and that's part of the problem I think. I was able to clip & embed stuff at home & it worked fine (I was celebrating this victory!!); but wouldn't run once at work. I spent some time with our AV guy on Friday - he had a few suggestions - so we'll see. The hospital has not been upgrading much stuff due to an amalgamation (talk about IT nightmares there!!) and we're in the midst of a development/replacement phase ... I think about a 5 year process, so in the meantime it sucks!

Gentle hugs, Tabitha.

Carolla, it can be firewall rules that are blocking the powerpoint reaching out to an external website. This is so that if someone sends you a ppt and you execute it , and it has a url in it leading to a virus package, that you dont' get sucked in.

Last day of the month - and the beginning of Advent. I stewed up some raspberries from the freezer and found some waffles that need using up. The coffee is on. Join me for breakfast.

I woke up to the smell of breakfast cooking this morning and being asked, what I would like. It was a nice treat.
I'll take another cup of coffee, it smells great in the room.

What a lovely thought and action from Tabitha I can Zach bundled up at the ski hill.

No notable seasonal prep around here yet
I decided to use my savings and replace our worn out and ugly flooring. It was in the house when we bought it - think bright shah carpet and ripped cushion floor. Last week was frustrating with furniture and possessions piled in weird places and moving about as the rooms got done
Really hard to find anything
I think it should be finished toy. YAY. I have a friend who does house leaning coming over to do the heavier seasonal clean up. YAY.

@KayTheCurler I feel your pain re typing on a smartphone. One of the things I found is that the window size wouldn't scroll . quite odd presentation.

I find people here are pretty good at reading through most typos. Good luck getting used to the smartphone.

Good luck from me as well @KayTheCurler . My new phone (Galaxy S6) was a rare case of it actually improving my typing on a phone. Part of that, though, is good predictive typing so I can avoid a lot of typos by choosing words that way rather than typing them out.

I love the predictive typing on my Windows Phone. It's how I most often write in the style that I do in the "Last Post" thread - I simply select some incorrect whirls.

i HATE predictive typing. My Samsung has no idea of what I'm planning to say next, guesses wrong 99% of the time even 4 letters into a word. If I had to rely on a smartphone for communications I would be permanently silenced. My texting basically comprises: "sweetie need help please" to my daughter and "walk at 4?" to my dog-walking neighbour.

blackberry has great predictive text....iphones predictive text sucks.

havent' tried samsung

I'm using the keyboard that Samsung supplies as a default. A lot of users switch to the Google Keyboard (something that @BetteTheRed might try if she hasn't already) but I like that this one has a number row. It has quirks but manageable ones.

I hate typing on the phone, but I will say that Samsung is pretty decent. I was slow to start using the predictive text as I just wasn't in the habit, but it speeds things up pretty good now that I use it more.

I still have an old phone with a full keyboard. It's all thumb-typing, but at least I don't have to worry about auto-correct.

You know, I loved my old Blackberry Bold but after a couple months using the Galaxy, I don't miss it. Overall, the Galaxy is a much better tool, even for typing.
