"Hey blanched person go back where you came from!"

Supose that would work with that native American ... Trump? What a card to put up as a real American ...

Echoes of Alice and the carded queens ... prior to the weaving and warping of the myth ...

It's been a lovely sunny day here :) At church a former minister who retired two years ago was back to preach for our Anniversary Sunday - marking 190 years in our community. It was good to see him & his wife, and an abundance of photos of their five grandkids, and lots of people who turned out to say hello & celebrate together. We had great music from our choirs and a guest who played the vibraphone (which I love!)

Then after lunch my mate & I went out to a beautiful woodland where a local art centre is also located - so walked in the woods a bit, then went through the arts & craft show - I am always amazed by many talented creative people. Picked up a few small gifts to add to my growing Xmas collection. Now, I'm listening to some soothing harp music, the fireplace is on, dinner is being prepared.

I've been online a bit this afternoon too, as I'm facilitating a group in an inter-professional education session this week - first they had a learning module to do; now there is some asynchronous discussion & on Wed evening we will meet face-to-face for more learning activities, role playing & feedback. These are always interesting sessions - I think I learn a lot from being with the students who come from all the related medical science programmes. The focus of this session is on delivering bad news - in this instance it is a case of a woman who was in a serious motor vehicle accident & will have residual effects of a brain injury.

Tomorrow night I'm meeting a group of friends for dinner & to go to the first of this year's National Geographic LIVE series - I think it's on oceans - so I'm sure it will be spectacular.

And then Friday night I have my women's euchre club coming here - so I have get busy figuring out a yummy cocktail & what food I will serve! It will be a full week - and I'm grateful for all the variety that is in it.

Sounds like a wonderful week, Carolla

Our family Christmas weekend will be December 10th, so two weeks ahead of the masses.

I have been decorating to get myself into the mood.

I went out and bought a few presents today.

Now resting

Women should fuss over themselves while men folk are away ... so as to be more attractive as human ... word from where pum I'z ole my personal stomata ... a void in thy self?

And the script say be still and ponder the darkness within ... occlusion and occult are strange metaphors .. for something else again ... manifestations? Appearance of things as isn't ... thus appreciation for the ugly lass ... chiz been out clamming ...

We're not visiting family over Christmas this year, so all gifts have to be mail-able. Books, gift cards, and charitable donations will probably cover most people on our list.

Christmas is best separated from family ... the bible says delight can part the greatest of collections of desire ... a family retribution?

We haven't figured out Christmas day yet. My brother went south, my oldest is coming home in 3 weeks and working Christmas. My younger sister and other brother don't come home. That leaves husband, youngestson and I and possibly my dad,, though he may have more fun with my niece and their crew.

Christmas plans are currently confusing. There was a plan, all of it in Edmonton with small details to be figured out. I knew that how things were going for my sister's family could change things, but I was expecting the city to be up for changing. If they go to Calgary I think we do too although Chemguy is going to be really upset about that. I'm hoping that was just a bit of a panicked suggestion on a bad day. She did seem really confused and packing everything up wasn't appealing to her either.

Yobo will be working on Christmas Day. I don't know how I'll spend it. Maybe I'll just relax at home.

Still working the PSW gig? My sister-in-law has missed a few Christmases that way (she works at a home in Kitchener).

My cousin is hosting at her place in Toronto but we're still up in the air as to what else we are doing. Little M would like to head somewhere to ski so maybe Quebec and then hit Toronto for Christmas on the way back. He has ski instructor training starting right after Christmas so any vacation has to come before.

Tip for sending gifts to those farther away - when possible, order online & have things gift wrapped & shipped directly to recipient - often there are free shipping deals - eg on Amazon.ca - works really well & saves you money & trouble of trying to find boxes, wrap, get to the post office ...

Yes that is one idea carolla=especially for those conserving their energy. I really like buying from small local stores when I can-hence the need for some mailing....

I'm all for small stores too Tabitha - I definitely avoid malls & chain stores whenever I can too. I usually end up sending a box on the bus out to Whistler at Xmas. This year both my kids are getting CAA memberships - since they both have old vehicles, it's a good option that pleases them - so no mailing even required for that one :-) A significant other who doesn't like to own a lot of stuff gets magazine subscription which he really likes. But I do send stockings & misc. other bits too ... I like them to have some stuff to open on Xmas morning.

CAA is a gift that I also give. Thinking of looking in parcel shipping to corner brook for a surprise open on Christmas box.

I've done that Carolla - I even seem to remember sending a Secret Santa gift that wway.

Seelermaan just checked our social calendar (don't those words sound high-faluting?) for the Christmas season. Bowling Christmas party (catered at a church); Seniors' Group drive and luncheon at a small home-style restaurant up-river; Parkinson's SSupport Group - potluck at a church; Square dancee probably pot luck where we dance. Those are the ones we plan to attend. He also belongs to, but is no longer active in, a model train group and a HAM radio group, both are having dinners. And there are various things happening at our church - including a turkey dinner where the people who come to the W@W and the Drop-In group are included with the Sunday morning people.

In recent years I've also been having an "At Home" for one afternoon and evening. Several people have recently mentioned how much they've enjoyed dropping in for wine 'n cheese, or coffee and sweets. Is that a hint? I'd love to do it again this year. I have to clean and bake anyway - all that would be needed would be to pick a date and get the word out.

As for Christmas dinner - it will be at Seelergirl's place - time and details not yet decidedd (I think the children spend Christmas eve/morning with their Dad this year and come to Seelergirl's in the early afternoon.

I had lunch with Rev Matt today. today. today. Good to catch up

Spent some time hanging out in in favourite bookstore catching up with old friends.
