** Pinga wanders in the room, looks around. Starts the coffee. Opens the drapes to let in the light f the new day. Too brisk to open the door yet, but, the day looks promising. Grabs the griddle hanging off the hook, pulls out the fresh farm eggs, the local bacon, the fresh fruit left from the visitors yesterday...and starts breakfast.

Hope everyone begins their day well.

Thanks Pinga. Hope your day starts well too. What a lovely breakfast you've begun here. For decor, I'll contribute a beautiful flower bouquet from my Yobo's new store.

I can contribute one attractive, stainless steel, non-working microwave. Stupid #^*%!@& thing. Four years old, so past warranty.

Otherwise, I'm cleaning rooms. Folks coming over for Thanksgiving. And neighbours. Gah.

On such an occasion as Thanksgiving - to whom does an atheist give thanks?

We have two microwaves. One has been around since we got married and is still in decent shape, though we use it fairly infrequently now since it is not very powerful relative to the other. The other is probably the third one we've owned. The newer ones just do not seem to hold up as well.

Quiet Thanksgiving for us. Little M went away with Mrs. M's cousins for a couple days. They got back late last night and the cousins are leaving shortly so it's just the three of us.

We have two microwaves too. One is in my middle son's bedroom (which also serves as our Korean kitchen). The other is in our main kitchen.

It's been a rather quiet Thanksgiving here too. Personally, I've enjoyed three Thanksgiving meals so far (two traditional, and one Chinese potluck), however none yet with my family. That's something we plan to do tomorrow night.

my theory is that it's important to have company now and then - it gets the house cleaned up! and the silver polished! We have friends & family coming today too ... will have to PVR the baseball game

I am avoiding large crowds or family gathers right now. Just can't risk picking up a bug, even I my blood stays good, the people I encounter at chemo and so on. It would just be wrong.

My niece phoned to offer to bring over Thanksgiving plates for us. I am thankful for that. She is having my Dad up for dinner as well. Another reason to give thanks.

I just bought us tickets for matinee of Sound of Music on Nov 1 at Stratford. I did it via phone so I could work to get tickets that would put me in least proximity to people (aisle seat), and....of course, people do their best to not cough at Stratfrod. I am taking the same niece and her 6 year old daughter. It was my mom's favourite musical and my first movie with her.

I figure that we could use a quiet lift then.
I saw the Sound of Music at Stratford this summer. SOOOOO outstanding! You will love it.

Dinner was really good. While the brussels sprouts were disappointing my parents who put way too much effort into everything decided to buy more Saturday night for us. For me it was more about them being garden ones, but it's not a dish my Mom has done for us in decades. The garden redeemed itself with butternut squash. I had 2 that were 1/2 water spots and a 3rd that had a smaller one. Didn't trust them to store long. They weren't the biggest ones we had, and after last year I figured we wouldn't get much off of them so I picked up one large squash from the store to save on having to cut up smaller garden ones. Didn't need it! Plenty off food of the 3. Last year there was next to nothing between the skin and seeds/slimy stuff. This time the skin wasn't so thick and seedy area was narrower so we had much more to eat from each.

Nothing new lasts ... why we cling to ancient beliefs about things we don't know ... because we'd really not like to know much about history ... we could'a learned something from those past Y- Eire's ... but the authorities don't want us to know the powers are corrupt with Ayres ... stinking ABBA'd ...

Hope that you have been able to recuperate, Chemgal.

I'm just about ready to head out with my brother-in-law, then looking forward to a visit with friends this afternoon.

I'm not enjoying my water as much th las two days, which isn't good. I am cleaning my waterbottle this morning, to see if that helps. It could be just a metallic taste in my mouth from treatment....but need to resolve, as need to drink my water. Tried a glass of water, but hadn't been in fridge long enough, so wasn't a good test.

On other notes, it is another beautiful day.

Had a flood in the laundry room last night, thinking that something jammed a drain. next two loads of laundry were fine.
Also, looked at my stairwell drapes and realized they were filthy last night. The cat deeks in and hides behind them They are lace and were grey in areas. Anyhow, washed them last night and hung them up this morning, and ohw, how white & fresh they look.
Sometimes it is the little things. Didn't take much energy, but, looks so much better.

@Pinga - have you tried infusing your water with anything? Sometimes I use a slice of lemon or lime, or some fresh mint leaves taste lovely - it's just a little hint of flavour. Some really like a slice of cucumber in their water in the summer time ... but i'm not a fan of cucumbers so haven't tried that. Or, perhaps a nice 'herbal tea' infusion - diluted?

Pinga - congrats on getting the curtains washed and put back up. It is pretty aggravating when washing machine water goes all over the floor instead of down the drain. There's a chance we have all experienced that at some point.

Have you met, or tried Rose's Lime Cordial? It is a favourite around here for perking up a drink of water. A little in a big glass really helps to make it more palatable without adding vast amounts of unhealthy stuff. It usually hides in the part of the supermarket where the drink mixers are.

Kay, I do have the lime cordial in the fridge. I should pull it out.
Carolla, good idea re the infusion, and I even have an infusion pitcher.

I like to just drink water, as that way my water bottle doesn't pick up flavours. I tend to use it everywhere. I think that i will just move to a different one when at home that I can add flavour to. i also know that yesterday was just my low Monday. Today was better.
