I'm struggling with the notion of "vegetarian turkey". Our local Loblaws also sells vegetarian chicken fingers. I don't understand how they can do it when products can't say "homemade" if they're not made in a home (home style tends to be what is used) or cheese has to meet certain criteria to be called cheese but vegetarian meat?

Stepping off my soapbox now to wish everyone a happy harvest/happy thanksgiving or a happy day hopefully spent with family and/or friends.

Ribs are on the menu here for my 2 boys and myself. That's their first choice. I had a turkey dinner while out with my uncle and aunt last night. Youngest will have turkey dinner with his transition house on Sunday.

I enjoyed turkey at church on Wednesday night - and turkey at work on Thursday. I have no idea what my family will do to celebrate Thanksgiving. We may go out for pho.

Pr.jae. You make me shake my head. This is a safe place. No time for baloney. But time

for thoughts and comfort. Try it, you might like it.

@Tabitha I was thinking about you today and wondering how you were doing and if this holiday would be difficult. I'm glad you and your boys will be together and that your son seems to be doing well in the transitison house. This seems to be good news or at least going in the right direction. Have a wonderful holiday!

It's a busy thanksgiving weekend for me. Today we are visiting my husband's family for the big dinner (two hours away from our place each way). Tomorrow morning I have to pick up cupcakes and coffee and we are celebrating my Uncle's 99th birthday coming up this week. Then we go to my Mom's for tgiving dinner (it will likely be stressful with family politics). Monday I go visit aforementioned Uncle to help him with his turkey dinner. Tuesday is his actual borthday so lunch and cupcakes. I am looking forward to it but am aprehensive too (and my health isn't great right now).

I hope everyone has a great long weekend and that you can share love with others.

Rather have pho than turkey myself. Without being all humbug, I just find I've lost my taste for the bird. I get it once a year at Christmas and that is quite enough for me.
It's the sides that make me love turkey dinners. You don't get stuffing the same without it. Chemguy and I have started prepping. Sadly, the number of edible brussels sprouts were few :(

Turkey and all the trimmings is delicious - but it's so much work. Going out somewhere is much easier (and pho is a family favorite) - and will cost about the same.

My
family has never included brussels sprouts as part of our annual turkey feast. Others must though - as they were one of the sides that my food company served at work. My family's favorites have always been carrots - squash - and broccoli in cheese sauce.

Seelergirl and family are coming for the traditional turkey dinner on Monday. I would prefer to celebrate on Sunday, but I am leading worship with two congregations and won't be home until 1:30 or so. I'd be exhaausted trying to get dinner on the table by six. Also, the graandkids will be with their father (and other Granma) on Sunday.

Big lasagna feast here on Monday - traditional and vegetarian; with a variety of salads & good breads. No fuss dinner with friends & family.

We'll likely have something quick and easy for supper on tgiving. Or, if the weather stays this nice we'll head out for a walk in the fall leaves and have a picnic. One kid lives too far away. One is going to the in-laws, one is away, and one said she prefers to spend the time with friends.

We have had a church cooked turkey meal and a roast beef one recently. Both were good.

I'm thankful for the outstanding weather for these few days. Yesterday was pleasant and I spent a lot of time taking photos. Today is t-shirt warm!

Jae- I too wonder what the story is behind 'vegetarian' food that is labelled as if it is meat. I assume it is as unhealthy as the fake food so many other people eat these days.
