Room For All

Welcome to Wondercafe2!

It's been a little quiet in this room lately ... perhaps we are all doing autumn chores, preparing for the long winter ahead. I've been occupied with planting bulbs (hopefully ones that are unappetizing to squirrels!) in my garden in preparation for spring; and doing other tidy-up tasks in the garden when the days are nice. It's a task that spans several weeks ... so I enjoy myself as I go along.

Last week, I stumbled across this beautiful garden meditation by Mary de La Valette ... wanted to share it with you. I find myself thinking about how I might get it printed & post it somewhere in my garden during the garden tour next spring ... a project for the winter.

I do not have to go
To Sacred Places
In far-off lands.
The ground I stand on
Is holy.

Here, in this little garden
I tend
My pilgrimage ends.
The wild honeybees
The hummingbird moths
The flickering fireflies at dusk
Are a microcosm
Of the Universe.
Each seed that grows
Each spade of soil
Is full of miracles.

And I toil and sweat
And watch and wonder
And am full of love.
Living in place
In this place.
For truth and beauty
Dwell here.

I'm just wiped out. Easier to respond to stuff than to come up with original thoughts!

I'm feeling pretty tired too these days; I know what it is related to, and am being as patient & gentle as I can with myself. Hopefully your energy will improve soon ChemGal.

Thanks Carolla. I have a fair bit for me to do, but took today off. Hopefully that, plus an infusion tonight will help.

I hope you're able to cope well with the things going on, it sounds like your family will be going through big changes soon. I'll be thinking of you and them.

Thank you for inviting us baack into the room, Carolla. And thank you for the beautiful poem. I loved my garden even though I concentrated mainly on vegetables. Somehow I always felt connected with the earth, with creation and with the creator, when working in the garden, watching it grow, picking and eating it's fruits - teaching my children and grandchildren how the earth sustains us. Holy Ground indeed.

Now I'll just put on the coffee and set out a bunch of bananas and a box of shreddies. Busy, busy, busy. Gotta run. B12 shot this morning. Writers' Group this afternoon. Square dancing tonight.

Yesterday, after feeding the hungry at my home church, I drove out to a village 40 klms away and visited their UCW. I gave a little talk, read the intro to my novel, and did some book signing. Twelve people at the meeting - 3 had already read the book. I sold eleven copies and was asked to leave the last three (I'd only taken 14) in case anyone else wanted one. One woman bought two - Christmas gifts for her husband and teenage grandson. Another woman, when I asked if she wanted it signed to any particular person told me, "To me, of course. This is my gift to myself. I might let my husband read it when I'm done." I got home in time to pick up Seelerman and join the square dancers entertaining at the nursing home. A long day.

Tomorrow is easy. Just bowling scheduled. But I still have to write my sermon for Sunday.

Why don't they include men in this ministry? (I realize they'd have to change the name).

You've heard of men only clubs ... or patriarchy?

Women too have their private domains ... and should be left that way on an invitation-only ba-Sis ... a mental state ...

When the psyche is of fey genre ... some say fey male and of flighty nature as angels ... some dark and unseen ... Ga-bri-el?

You can only see this from the reciprocal perspective ... look at the private situation of fey-male as brutally invaded by men who don't give a dame nothing ... and thus the pariah of the male mind without cross-over ... a kind of extra terrestrial void ... domain beyond the soiled from falling out?

Many only see it when they become part of the great script ... Book 've the Dead? It counters the Book of Life that is stunned ...

That reminds me, I'll have to go check your Thanksgiving thread, Seeler. I am leading the Children's Time (as usual) and the multi-age Sunday School this week. Fun!

Multi aged children that need to be taught about things unknown? What a spectre that can be ...

Saying Hi as I pop in and out again. Today is a baking day - I've got a wee suspicion that the cheese and onion buns rising in my kitchen are going to taste awesome. If they are you can count on a basket full landing on the counter later.
Yum, when do you put the cheese and onions in? I never even think to do that. When I first left home there was a corner store that made the best onion buns in the known world. It just occurred to me that I might be able to make them too.
